Queen Lea's Suprise Visit

Refugees on Silan were treated to a surprise visit yesterday by Her Majesty Queen Lea. Close sources say the Queen of the forest kingdom slipped away from her official court duties and appeared on Silan to greet the astonished young homins.

Accompanied by a trio of heavily armed escorts, the queen attempted to glide quietly onto the Island and mingle with the refugees. But the best laid plans often go awry, as Her majesty found out! As soon as she appeared at the Karavan Embassy she was spotted by Heartbreaker, a particularly sharp eyed homin. Raising the alarm in true paparazzi fashion, Heartbreaker led the rush to greet the official party.

After a brief introduction the queen made a whirlwind inspection tour of Silan. She greeted Sir Chiang the Strong and to the astonishment of the assembled crowd Sir Chiang broke his long standing reputation of being the strong, silent, and all business fellow that refugees have grown to love by engaging in formal courtly small talk with Queen Lea. Who'd have guessed he had it in him?

The official party made stop at the tent of Lord Sterga Hamla to inquire about the status of Matisian craft training on Silan. After hearing his report the queen astounded the audience by turning around and asking the assembly what they thought of the training. Of course the result was sheer chaos, since the queen didn't specify that the court rules of order applied. She's a crafty one indeed, letting the refugees speak freely. This reporter thinks he may have even noticed a bead of perspiration appear on Lord Hamla's brow as the refugees shouted out their opinions. Of course it was exceptionally hot that day, so perhaps Lord Hamla was just in need of a nice fanning. In the end the queen had her bit of fun at the stodgy crafter's expense and decreed his performance was satisfactory.

Next the queen expressed her desire to visit the Ruins of Silan to pay her respect to the ones that fell at the horrible incident. Along the way it became evident that one of her bodyguards may have been nipping at the fire wine while on duty. But in her unique way the Queen handled the situation effortlessly and gracefully. It makes one wonder what happened when the official party returned to Yrkanis.

Led and escorted by a large band of homins, the Queen proceeded to the ruins. Did you know the queen has distaste for slaveni? As soon as it became apparent the assembled masses made very sure that the slaveni were removed from her path; it was quite a display of impromptu gardening! Well of course not the queen, but the assembled band of homins made very sure no bandits, foul creatures, or despicable slaveni would get close enough to disturb the royal party. It was a bad day for bandits, that was sure!

After holding a vigil at the Ruins, the queen made a quick stop by the old throne and marveled at its fine craftsmanship. That done the queen made haste back to the Karavan Embassy to depart the island. Once again the hearty band of homins escorted her and cleared a bloody path through the creatures in her way. Not a chance that Her Majesty would be delayed this day!

Upon her return to the Karavan Embassy she bid all farewell and thanked them for the escort. We bid her farewell and thanked her for taking time out of her busy day to visit us. One simply never knows when the famous will drop by Silan, so I'm keeping my eyes and ears open for the next exclusive scoop. You should too!
