A Race Fit for a King!

Passing through Yrkanis today, I happened to stumble upon yet another of Lanist's lavishly rewarded sporting events. Apparently yesterday's jaunt through the desert only whetted Lanist's appetite for racing!

It's also apparent to this reporter that Lanist is not at all afraid of the Society of Tryker Women. He started off today’s race saying, “Today's sporting event is a race fit for a King!” Lanist's homecoming may not be a gentle one if he keeps this up!

This evening’s race was extreme and outrageous. The course was long and arduous. Only the bravest and most skilled riders dared to accept Lanist's challenge. The route was from the Yrkanis Gate to Eastgrove Workshop in the Grove of Confusion and back. The catch was that all racers had to check in at Runninghill Research Center, perilously close to the Tunnel of Woe.

Nine hearty souls started the race, but only three completed the course with their skins and mounts intact! Abandoned and dead, mektoubs were strewn about the forest countryside like discarded rum bottles at a Tryker family reunion.

When the dust settled the racers in the winner's circle were Somnus and Hijati, each taking home a prize “fit for a King.”  Hijati received 3 Kitin Larvae of the highest quality for taking second place, while Somnus walked away with a whopping 7 Kitin Larvae of unsurpassed quality!

As the winners rejoiced and the racers congratulated each other on a well run race, Lanist made a hasty exit. This reporter swears she saw him looking over his shoulder in the direction of the Wheel of Fortune as he hastily made his retreat.

With Lanist back in hiding, the racers joined in a new sporting endeavor, retrieving the lost and fallen mounts. After all, even after a family reunion someone has to pick up all the rum bottles!
