Event First Sightings One bright Matis evening, some fifty brave Homins gathered together in an attempt to reach the fair lake lands of Tryker, some looking for loot, some trade, and some just the intention of having fun.
Quickly they made their way south to Davae when they began to hear some disturbing tidings about a threatening Kitin invasion, the Kitins apparently taking advantage of their departure. The travelling company was very divided, some wishing to let the remaining Homins fend for themselves, and some wanting to return and rid the land of Matis of the foul enemy. A decision was made to continue - angering some and pleasing others, and the company delved deep into the dangerous area of Heretics Hovel.
But alas, the Kitins were more devious than anyone had dreamed. At a deserted outpost in the heart of the Hovel the Matis exodus was ambushed by massive hoards of Kitin fighters. The whole company was slaughtered there and was forced to trail in defeat back to Yrkanis, swearing to defeat the evil creatures. Now, the hunt started in earnest as the Matis people rallied their forces to be joined by visiting Homins from other lands.
All over Majestic Garden was heard the sounds of Kitins in pain and the clash of swords and pikes hitting their hard, dark shells. The land was covered in sprawling corpses; as despite the ferocious effort of the faithful defenders, wave after wave of the hateful vermin spread through the greenwoods.
Then some started to suspect that there was an evil power at work, a mastermind directing the Kitin troopers to the most vulnerable spots. The brave Homins hacked their way through the chitin-clad army killing the Princes and the Captains where they were hiding, surrounded by defenders. Shouting could be heard when hunters found a Prince or a Captain, as Homins rushed in to help bringing the giant Kitins down. Several times our gallant fighters thought they had won the war only to discover that new waves of Kitins were still flowing in. All that weary night, the Homin army hacked their way through the seemingly numberless foes, until at least the sun rose in a blood-red haze.
Rumours now began to circulate about a mighty Commander hiding at Psykopla Knoll. Scouts were sent out, while a big hunting party gathered in anticipation at the gates of Yrkanis. Setting out with caution, the large war-band was nevertheless ambushed by a swarm of Choc Troopers and perished to the last Homin. Fired with determination to wipe out the huge Commander and free Matis from his thrall, the band regrouped for another attempt. This time their luck and caution held out and they reached the commanding hill chosen by the enemy to make their last stand. By a stroke of bad fate however, once more they were ambushed by the fearsome choc guards at the very point where they could see the glistening Commander pacing the top of the Knoll. So close to the goal, they refused to give up and set out from the Gates of Yrkanis for a third time.
Finally the Goddess Jena smiled on their efforts strengthening their resolve and hearts. This time they reached the Knoll in good time, slaughtering any Kitins that dared to oppose them and forced their way up to the heights where the Commander thought himself safe. War cries were thundering and magic sizzling through the crisp morning air, as with a mighty effort the commander fell screaming vengeance to the last. « Back |
