Seeds of Doubt

I have loyaly served the Kamis from my first encounter with them and their awesome power. I have and still commit myself to the preservation of the living world. Atys is my home, Atys is my one love. I would gladly die defending her. The Kamis, who also have such conviction about the balance of nature and life will forever have my gratitude and allegiance.

I cannot help but wonder, however, at recent commands given to the Kamis faithful. Already we have exhausted two lands in the construction of the temples, and I begin to question our purpose there. Much of the ground has been stained red with blood and with every harvest I can feel Atys sobbing. This does not feel like the balance we were meant to preserve.

I have always, and will continue, to serve the Kamis. I am sure there is some bigger purpose here. Perhaps stretching the reserves of these materials to the very brink will promote new growth. Maybe the Kamis are laying the seeds now for future recapturing of the Old Lands. In the meantime, I seek the solitude of the jungles between stints in the Old Lands to calm the ache in my heart.

Forever Faithful,

Maika the Zorai

Born during the exodus from The Old Lands, Maika has never known peace. Maika was born in 2503 to Chen-Ji and Kaija Huku, members of a nomadic tribe of Zoraïs called The Lost Tribe. They made up part of several hundred homins who had fled into the wilds after The Great Swarming, but refused to take the Exodus Road to the new lands. During her teen years, Maika's head was filled with thoughts of hope and longing for the new lands by an elderly Zorai named Zorvax. One day she decided to escape her "boring" nomadic life in the tribe and took the Exodus Road. Many months, adventures and close-shaves later she arrived in the Witherings ready and eager to serve Mabreka, her people and the guardians of Atys, the Kami.
