MMO Research using Ryzom
Added by Hialmar over 4 years ago
Hello,
I just wanted to describe what I'm starting to do with Ryzom to get some feedback about it.
A good part of my research work at Paul Sabatier University/IRIT Laboratory is to work on Massively Multiplayers Virtual Environments.
You can check what we did in the past here:
http://www.irit.fr/~Patrice.Torguet/index_en.php#Themes_recherche (this is the English version and I also have a french one).
In the past we only worked with virtual environment systems we created internally.
Of course those are far from what Ryzom offers and I would like to switch to Ryzom in order for my research to be more meaningful.
My current goal is to learn about Ryzom by doing some testing with it on some of the Grid 5000 ( http://www.grid5000.fr ) clusters.
For this I need to modify the client so that it is automated (much like a bot - but don't be afraid, I won't use it on the real server nor publish the source code in case someone else wants to use it on the real server). Then I will start the servers and several clients in one cluster and get data from it.
My next goal will be to try to do some peer to peer enhancements to Ryzom much like what is described in this paper:

Thanks for any comments,
Patrice/Hialmar
