Maybe... but that's comparatively easy to do yourself once you have the information somewhere at all, have a look at LogThingy if you're not in the mood for hacking together your own script ;)

Contact's list:
The ability to sort alphabeticaly
The ability to filter out of line friends
The ability to add comments to each person on the list (ie: Officer of allied guild or Good jewery trader or Ignored for spamming)

Combat:
Fix Daggers (either make them hit as fast as it sais, or make the wepon stats say the correct speed)
Make duel wield allowable with all 1h weapons (prehaps not the spear, but mace and axe could easaly duel with a knife)
Fix or remove the staff (its in the skill tree i believe but would be impossible to kill anything with the ones on the vendor)
Fix Hand to hand (as with staffs)

Why does source gas and explosions hit mektoub packers and mounts? It doesn't damage the wild varieties, so it shouldn't affect the domesticated ones either. It just causes grief, turn it off.

imho, it should affect mobs, if only for "realisms" sake... but I agree, make it a consistent behaviour, one way or the other ;)

On the other hand, I'd like to have some kind of "fear" spell that frightens the mobs without making them aggressive... needs to be finely balanced, but would be a great thing to have for moving away those friggin' kipees :)

Finer sound volume controls:

I currently have SFX off all the time because I don't like the characters' yelling in combat. So I miss out on all the nice environment sounds. I know there are some people who mute SFX to avoid the loud kipee roars as well. It would be wonderful if there could be some kind of "advanced" volume controls for different parts of SFX.

heh, I agree wholeheartly (although we are a bit out of scope of the thread, I don't think these are minor modifications)... and a big *sigh* *melancolic* since those are suggestions that have been raised a weee while ago (yeah, we will be soon near two years after release :) ):

- Add diversity to Deffensive affliction (it has 3 base spells, with little to no options, which added to mob resists, it is often reduced to 2)

- Bomb stun, anyone? :)

- Sleep is, as now, pretty useless. What you suggest for fear, I'd say use it for sleep (a feared mob who is not feared anymore, may remember who feared it and become aggressive, but sleep could do): you sleep the mob and its aggro range is reduced, it has some after link-breakdown inertia, etc.

Yes, that sounds even better than fear... somehow forgot about sleep ;)

Re: Forums: What Bugs You The Most? (by Xavier Antoviaque)

What really bugs me - not the latent nagging kind of bugging, but bugging me every time I watch them - are the tribal NPCs wandering through hordes of aggro mobs unscathed. My imagination can accept that for say, a scout or a single patroller, but not for a band of harvesters or warriors. It just disrupts the immersive feeling the living planet with all its mobs hunting and avoiding each other gives me. I'd really love to see them being attacked - not for spitefulness, but for realism's sake... and I think that they should have a few healers in their company ;)

On a similar note, I'd like the mobs to become more intelligent - sneaking up on me, assessing their odds against me, then deciding to attack or leave me be... and have them retreat when they are near death - come on, it's just not believable to have any mob fight to its certain death!

So, yay for mob intelligence :)

Except for one minor problem, in my experience at least. The welcomer offers four tutorials, one for each major area. I started my main as magic / craft / forage. Did the forage tutorial (that needs major lovin' for Fyros, in and of itself), the magic tutorial, went back for the craft and got a "kkthxbai" from the welcomer. She'd only give me two of the tutorials. If this is the case, that also needs fixing. Period.

And this is where the NPE fails. Harsh as it sounds, but it should lead the player through, all the way. Show them everything. To see a really well done player introduction, play World of Warcraft. Blizzard have that down to perfection: the art of teaching a player to play the game.

It's the same in all their games: The original Warcraft RTS's, Starcraft, Diablo. All of them are "pick up and play." The trick they use is to not try to teach the whole game in one sitting. Do it a little at a time, and then let the player play with what they've just learned. Then teach a little more. Lather, rinse and repeat.

Yes, I remember that there are two general problems with the welcomer missions, one of them is the one you found. But they don't appear every time, and I think its very hard to track down.

First NPE isn't life jet. It is planned for the near future. As far as I understood it depends more or less on the planned architecture change for Ryzom-Ring.
So NPE should solve the problems you encountered.
I remember, that I could finish all parts of the welcomer mission with my first character. So the problems my occur, but they don't have to occur. And I learned all basics on the game, that were needed to play. To learn the details ask around, and exchange you experiences with other players.

Welcome to Atys :)

Thinking about it, its not just the chat. Its the entire comms system. :p
-an /afk status which blocks tells so that the recipient doesn't even get the message in the end.

-a friends list that'll only let you add online people.

-a mail system that only displays the new mail icon if you happen to receive some while your online.

-a faction chat system which you have to run in a seperate box to view all the time as it doesn't apear in user.

Also faction chat can [Bug] and you have to type something in around chat before it will work.

:D

So much more immersive and atmospheric.

First the topic is "what bugs you the most" That bugs me the most. As a new player to a struggling game, Im giving my opinion. (of course you vets feel different, you have gotten use to it)

Second, ok maybe in the wildrerness its fine BUT the towns have no sound effects or music going on in them. No townlike ambient sounds no busy markets nothing. The game is to quite. Hooting animals and footsteps does not create a townlike atmosphere.

The lack of music and ambient sounds does not make it MORE emersive but less. Sure I could throw in a CD, I can do that in any game. However I don't think I am capturing the mood and atmosphere the devs intended.

Totally agreed SoR could use more of this; Pyr should be bustling with noises from the markets, have some streetcorner muscicians, ... As long as each of the towns have it' s specific cultural sounds I' d sign for this one.

Ambient noise is a different kettle of fish to constant music.

Yes, the settlements could do with some, but I bet it'd all be in french ;)

Re: Forums: What Bugs You The Most? (by Xavier Antoviaque)

First of all I am an audio-person, so to say. I am lucky to have very fine ears and I am cursed at the same time for that repetetive noises or even music that repeats itselve do annoy me like nothing else.

The capitals DO have ambient Sounds, and quite good ones I think.
Music would be fine, but as Iīve stated so often before, the problem is, that it would be always the same song. Just as it is now with the fanfares as you enter a city. (I sometimes wonder if you guys have all deactivated the music button in the configuration menue, it IS there!!!)
And hearing the same song , time and time again, over and over, anoyes the hell out of me. More than any ambient sound could ever do.
Trouble is, to give a "Town Musician" a constantly changing repertoire of Music would wreack havoc on your download rate, or would make the initial Download waaaay bigger than 1,5 Gig. it is now.
Donīt you ever think of the consequences for all of us?

WoW has got a load of music, and good music to boot, but it 4 CDs big!!! 4 + downloads!!!

That wolg make for abot a 3 Gig. download if SoR would have that kind of music and stuff...

If you want that...
And original music is a costly thing. Nevarx had a pretty renovned musician do the musics that are there, if he was to do more, that would cost more and would by that greatly up the cost of the game...

If you want that...

I like the music that IS there and I love the idea of having a mp3 player InGame to put up my own Score, but mostly I just let it play softly in the background to accompany me, as I listen to the lovely ambient sounds.
Okay, appart from Kippe Herds and those squeaky beasts in Zorai and Tryker :D

If you switch of ambient sounds or have them set to a low level, then you wonīt hear them, dohī.
But they ARE there.

On the NPE there is no Music, yes. And that may be a problem to some, but instead of telling them that there IS in fact Music on the Mainland, you whine about the lack of it. And thatīs simply not true.

Sorry, but ignoring the facts and whining about them isnīt doing any good at all.

For all New players. You can download the music from the Mainland on the Main Page, or on mine if you like. Or listen to it on the main Lands.
If by the 4th time you enter a City, it does not get on your nerves I congratulate you. For as good as it is, Iīm listening to it as part of my m3u List and not Ingame.
Simple as that.

Not nessicarily.

By using ten or twenty clips of interchangable music phrases for each zone you could generate a score on the fly. When the player entered a zone with music an opening phrase would be played, and then throughout the rest of the player's wanderings in the zone random clips are played. With a setup like this about 3 minutes worth of sound for each area could last a really long time, as the player would forget which clips have been already been played after a while.

I think you underestimate the human brain ;)
Wouldn't you notice if you were listening to a CD on shuffle/repeat, maybe not the second time, but ultimately... making it more annoying than having no background music at all.
I'd like to see (hear!) the ambient sounds revamped, as they are too repetitive at times, I wouldn't even start thinking about music...

Re: repeating music
I have no problem with looping music, personally. I usually set one track to loop for hours in Winamp. :p But each time I turn on SFX and listen to the birds and other natural sounds of Atys, I become more convinced that those sounds are far more immersive than music.

I think the problem goes more in the direction of the "ninja looting" in which a team member (with rights to loot as long as he participated in the kill) hurries to loot the mob, sometimes silently and without telling others or with lack of honesty.

This problem is present in other MMRPGs, but my personal opinion is that it concerns the players in the team. As long as you trust your teammates, I have almost never had a problem with current looting system in Ryzom. Most times the mats are split equally, shared between members with a common agreement, and almost never there are problems with it.

In grinding hunts, the common practice is to let players in a team loot in turns, or in extensive hunting sessions, one loots till bag is full.

To the poster, I would say that one of the effects of this community is that most players are mature enough to do a fair share of the mats. If a player exploits the trust other teammates give him, he'll soon find himself with lack of teammates, since most will not be willing to team him again. That said, it remais a valid question whether an automatic loot/split system should be in place, whether it would offer a benefit or not... personally, the chat after the kill of who needs what is interesting to me :)

Remember location when logging out, sleep animation, AFK animation, using chairs/beds

I'd like to wake up where I went to sleep. In game mechanics: Please let me reappear inside my appartement or the guild hall when I logged out inside.
I'd also like to wake up the way I went to sleep, read: Why am I standing when I logged out sitting?
I always think I must be sleepwalking ;)

Even more challenging: I like to lie down for sleeping. Could we please have a lying/sleeping stance (preferrably both, prone and sleeping)? The Cutes can do it, why can't we? That would also make for a perfect AFK stance instead of this stupid cut-string-puppet look...
...and would look even better if I could use my own bed (heck, I paid a million dappers for it, let me use it :)) and sit on my own chairs - just make them kind of "mountable" like stationary mektoubs?!

Oh by the way, when I return to my keyboard, I'd like to see who tried to contact me meanwhile. AFK the way it is now is the most useless feature in the game

Better synching of player actions , especialy the direction they face , often times il go to an event/meeting and there will be ppl sitting with their back to the speaker , I had thought this was a show of disrespect but on questioning the players -they are facing the speaker on their screen , ruins the usefullness of /point as well lol

A similar problem with characters on Follow running sideways/backwards , also chars on Follow having their cast interupted if the Followed one moves (causing them to move) , it would be better for them to complete an in progress cast before Following once more

Note:- for all those who say "Bless you" when someone sneezes , its a local random action (not synchronised to all) , youl be lucky if anyone else saw that sneeze -shame :/

I would like to be able to add chat tabs to the main chat window, and set different channels to show in each tab. Perhaps max of 3 or 4 tabs available to have at once.

An option, that when someone on your Friendslist comes online/goes offline, you get a message in your main chat window. A toggle-able option.

Also, more detailed tooltips for some things like skills.

Re: Forums: What Bugs You The Most? (by Xavier Antoviaque)

First let me say I am very new to game less than a week so most may not get anything from this idea.

Could you make it so you can re-read what a quest giver says to you? I know you have a summary window but in some cases as a newbie learning the game there is involved instructions on where to hunt or what is needed and the summary window does not give out all the information you need.

I have seen this question about being able to see the full quest info, being asked about many times on the newbie isle so I think it would be a nice thing to add.

Also and keep in mind I am a total newb could you make it a bit easier to ditinguish creatures that are aggressive as opposed to non-aggressive? I may be missing something in the rulebook or forums or maybe game is just designed to be this way so you learn from experience what is dangerous or not but as a new player some things kill you so quick it takes a bit of the fun out of it until you learn what it is killing you.

Give a few more details in quest info such as "you need to harvest item A of at least quality 20. Try searching southwest of the (insert name here) ruins and beware of creature B that roams nearby in the woods.

I would also like to see a bit more explanation of what the different stanzas do. Yes I know that for example Heal Self 2 is better than Heal Self 1 but how much better is it? Again I may be missing this info somehow when looking for it. But how do you compare the different damage types against each other to see what you should select with your precious points? I see this question asked alot on the island as well....what is the difference between Gentle Extraction and Harmful Extraction and which should I take first? This leads me to believe that the explanation of the stanzas need to be more clear and give a better idea of what they do and are used for.

Ok this is enough from the newb. I apologise if some of these things are in game but I have missed them, but I thought maybe devs could use some insight from a newcomers point of view. I am really enjoying game though and have already sent link to friends. Already canceled EQ2 account and looking forward to moving on to mainland soon, after I learn a bit more of game mechanics.
