About rewards: indeed Katriell, and that's not our intention. With the Lair we want to provide renewed challenge to explorers, foragers, achievers, hunters. Missions will allow us to bring some items with new look into the game, but you can "enjoy" the lair without taking any mission (none of the mission rewards are made final yet regarding stats; we don't want them to be an unfair competition to the crafters yet we want them to be interesting enough).

Hence my fears.

I think aen is fine as she is, she provides cheap armor for the masses, only those who spend more time working towards nice crafted heavy armor have the rewards, aen is good but nothing on a Q250 set of well made heavy armor as you well know kyerna, if there was an improvment to aen it would be that she only drops one or two parts of that ugly heavy armor at a time so making it harder to harvest set apon set with ease.

Six more parry, 24% less action malus, and +150 stam/HP is definitely something. All beyond what is possible for a crafter, let alone what is actually reasonable to expect.

Checking recent bazaar auctions, Aen sold for 75 million and a supreme Q250 went for the equivalent of 52.5 with a (generous 10k / mat conversion)

That is how Aen is undermining crafting.
It should be special for its look, not its stats.

(You can't compare Aen to a +3 Q250 set because there is an immense difference regarding effort/time to obtain- one like whats on auction is comparable but I think still rarer than Aen)

well i bought the aen armor, but to be fair i (and anyone else i can rope into helping) have spent an immense amount of time over the last couple of months gathering mats for a crafted HA set.. i imagine that 400 assorted max parry/pf tyrakoo/vorkoo/womkan/goakan/etc mats would sell for more than 75 million :) Aen is a special occaasion only armor, it in no way replaces anything, but will just get taken out the cupboard on rare occasions.

maybe if they reduced the parry to +3 people would have less concerns?

I strongly suggest that the stats of Aen armor be downgraded - at least to +3 parry/dodge and the hp boost reduced. While I don't think old Aen should be removed at once, I think that old boss armors should decay. For instance, they should lose ~ 50 hp per real-time month. Also, in my opinion, Aen looks rather goofy on males.

correction: it looks rather goofy on males that are not built like fighters :)

Well, I'm a new player, hit mainland like 2 weeks ago, and loving every bit of the game. While conversing with crafters though, i came across a pretty large scale complant. This complant was that people spent well over a week, moreso a month or two to get these very rare materials for crafting swords/ armor/ or anything for that matter :) The issue was having items degrade. It seemed that most crafters held degraded items as practically junk, or better still, useless. So, I've come here to kind of state the problem, and a possible solution :D ... First and foremost, I am not a big time crafter, I don't really understand what all happens when an items is degraded after crafting, but I do know that items last as long as their durability. (Making crafted items in constant demand). The solution I had come up with seemed decent, it is to say that instead of completely ruining the item, or decreasing its statistcs so much as to it being of no usefullness, that instead, degraded items should just have about half to a third of their normal durability, and perhaps, a 2-5% reduction in the rest of the stats. (An example would be a high end sword, its normal durability is 450.. but degraded it would range from 75-135, making it usefull, but not long lasting. Also if this sword did lets say 600 total damage, instead as degraded it would posses a damage of 535-550, making it in all respects still a decent sword, but not up to par with the best possible)

Thats my thoughts, and would greatly appreciate any sort of comments whatsoever. Thank you for your time everyone, and hope you did not fall asleep out of boredom of reading this :)

Personally, I would much rather the items remain the way they are. One of the things I love about Ryzom, is that the crafters *have* clients out of necessity. It keeps the economy going. Games where the items don't permanantly degrade have economies which never seem to stabalize, and it becomes pointless to craft except for your own use, and perhaps for that of your guild. It removes an aspect of social behavior.

Heck, even the tools used to craft can wear out. :D

i think things degrade too slowly ;) you can make a very good sword/armor with virtually no effort, but Ryzom is full of perfectionists (myself included) that will spend months gathering mats for that perfect item.

Agreed. (I am a crafter but) I still think that jewels and armors wear off too slowly while digging and crafting. I've used the same set for months.

For "über"-items, it is hard to tell. I am in a particular case, being in a solo guild and not bothering to rush on season changes, but it is becoming harder and harder to gather mats for those perfect items. I guess nothing is wrong with that (although personally frustrating. I have the skills but I can rarely use them and be proud of creations), it's a MMRPG and favoring team work is a "good thing" (tm), but it can take weeks to just gather enough mats for a weapon. Wanting your "dream" PvP jewel set or +3 Heavy Armor can be a matter of months of gathering, without being a "casual" player, so it would be a nightmare if those decay too fast.

My complain, is that regarless of weather and other effects as random pops, getting supreme materials has become a matter of camping boss mobs, rushing after reboots and patches and hurrying after season changes. I think it's a pity that the system is (although not completely) too deterministic. I used to like to wonder around and "by chance" manage to find a node with supreme materials. While it is still perfectly possible for some mats, it's virtually impossible with supenodes, zun and so on.

Re: Forums: What Bugs You The Most? (by Xavier Antoviaque)

Agreed as well...
Suggestion: make superior nodes change daytime and weather behavior randomly every few ingame seasons.
Maybe even make them wander a few 100m's - but then, no node has ever moved a single inch since the last beta...

Yeager78, I think that's an excellent idea to reduce crafter's frustration. Andarr, I don't think you read his post, did you? I'd like to see aging/decomposition of items, increased wear and tear, and the type of change to craft degrades suggested by Yeager.

Re: Forums: What Bugs You The Most? (by Xavier Antoviaque)

yeah the supreme popping (mat and boss) has to be sorted out, put in more randomisation of the time till next pop and much more importantly save the bloody timer's when you reboot servers!!

i think you could add a lot more with no more effort than someone playing with a spreadsheet and random number generator :) season changes are an evil thing when all mats for that season are available from the start (weather dependent of course).

It's common practice to stay there till it pops, then out. Whatever the weather is, it will pop within a couple of hours max, usually.

I read it... but it being the day it is here at work... I misread it. ;)

I was reading it as item wear... not degradation during crafting.

how about...

you cant directly pop excellent/supreme in pr, but rather if you use that stanza you pop choice (weather/season dependent like now) and you have 0.1% chance to get excellent/supreme mat (then you have 2 mats in forage window, which q/amount will increase independently).

... or ...

instead of digging real mat, you get mission item (cant trade with players, can store in packers) that you change for real mat in NPC and amount you can change is limited per season (ingame month/week also possible)
.. for supernodes, differnet mission mat that gives more than 1 craftable mat ??
edit: tag mission items for season, so if you digging sup in summer, you cant change it in autumn... or make them timed (1 ingame month timer and then they go bad/becomes useless)

... or ...

combine both of them

both will remove that season camping that happens in every season/reset.

i have thinked about sending ingame suggestion, but devs probably have me on ignore already.

agree there, new challenge for "explorers, foragers, achievers, hunters" not crafters :(

hmmm, maybe if the rewards would be something for crafters?

maybe new crafting plans for Kitinhunters:
  1. a "Kitinhunter" Armorset with higher Resistance to Damadgetype X
  2. a "Kitinhunter" Weapon be it Spear/Sword/Mace/whateva
  3. a "Kitinhunter" Jewelset
but i admit that new Armor or Weaponplan would be a bit... well, harder work for our devs then a new set of Jewels, the thing I would like to see is something else...

a new crafting CREDIT or STANZA

as it bugs me the most that we crafters, be it as low as i am or high Lvl ones, can´t NEVER craft even close to something that is given away as a Missionreward...

the Credit can be ether a fix amount, eg. +10-50 Credit or a percentage to Credits, eg. +10% or +20%, giving us the possibility to add a bit more Statbonus then the Level of the Item would allow.

or a new Stanza to add to a plan, including this, but not limited to:
  1. a Flag/Banner added to the back of the Armor brandishing the Guiildsymbol (like the medival Samurai)
  2. the Symbol of the Faction of the Wearer on the Armor or as Flag/Banner (to show your Allegiance even if not PvP-tagged)
  3. a Glow around the Item (a sort of erie Aura)
  4. a Stanza like Concentrate that gives you a +25 on your Craftinglevel=less chance to fail
  5. a Stanza that allows to add more Mats then needed to influence the color of the trimmings on Armors
  6. and... and... and i think i could make this list a mile long ;)

well i´ll stop rambling now, work has to be done ;)

Re: Forums: What Bugs You The Most? (by Xavier Antoviaque)

-------------------

Please, make the networking and syncing code a bit more relaxed, so in case the player lags (ISP stalls, link-downs, cable or xDSL glitches) and the dreaded "Please Wait" window, we can resync without being forced to relog. This works to some extent, but if the stall goes over a few seconds it becomes harder and harder and resyncing is almost impossible -- even trying small workarounds like changing window setting or far clips)

In a related note, also change the way we can relog. Now, when you try to relog, you need to "player is already online, please relog", and the player does not know whether to shutdown the game, wait a few seconds, try to re-click on connect, etc. Can't it be possible to give priority to the second log and kick the first out?

Thanks

Re: Forums: What Bugs You The Most? (by Xavier Antoviaque)

*whew* I finally got to the end, it seems... Well Let me introduce myself, I'm Trycker currently at free newb island.. I were thinking about upgrade to full account. I'm allso fairly new to game and it's little perks and quirks... So forgive me if i get some wrong based on what I've seen on RoS...

Few things that annoys me:

-This post has grown into incomprehensible bable..

It's probably been a great idea.. until it grew into 20 pages long monster :) I mean We reside in forums, use that. Make own area where people can put their ideas, discuss them. And then then matter has been handled put some marking on it (first page). This has become a place to handle new ideas too. Not just little thing, like i believe it was meant to.

- Markers on map in folders.

Allowing us to make a neat little folder for these flags (colorize folder -> flags get neatly colored too :). Okay this is not such an easy job, considering you need to make some fundamental changes to database (I presume you do have some sort ;) (I think someone said this, but since this was my reason to read all those 42 pages... I said it anyway :)

- Containers something to use to manipulate your inventory

They could be bags, just something to put stuff in.. to "hide" them away... Or as I figured, they could be used more flexibly. Like bag, when containin *only* clothes (max 1 piece per slot) it would convert into umm.. Suit-bag, that you can wear (swap each pieace automatically, put existing pieces into same bag you took your new one. Time to wear these bags would still be what it would if one put those clothers on individually.
Also bags could be set to collect stuff automatically (you put them in by instinct) like TP tickets (don't know if they are still an issue). Or collecting "craft items" into one place.. Or armor you craft.. or mission items (make a new bag from mission, it collects the stuff acting like NPC you are going to return them. Thus avoiding annoying "oh yeah.. i crafted those" effect when you go return quest's :) (Yet again not a easy task. unfortunatelly...)

- IRCify the conversation system.

Everybody is crying about this tell system.. As I have yet to get many friend's I've noted anything wrong, I just picked the problem and worked on it a little.
AFAIC this current system is based on TelNet, with some tweaks (well friend told it's like IRC, but my problems with problems Klients showed it's closer to Telnet... Anyway...

On IRC you are allowed to make your own "rooms" and moderate them on your own.. like have a chatroom for friends. Or those Outpost battles I hear about.
Put all tells to one window by default (or allow us to make it so) with tabs. AND ad some note if there's some action in channel (highlights, speak etc... like in IRC :) bad thing is: this would be a pain to moderate... I've yet to find solution to that.. Ofcourse all the channels could be listed by GMs and such.. and they could observe them without joining.. (Some curseword highlight :) (as I'm writing this, I'm starting to realize why there is no player made channels :) Teamchats can be missused too though, can GMs moderate them too?

Anyway... These are not huge things (yet)

*casts Ward From Angry Foragers *
*hunches Colombo style* One more thing... (two actually, but im not *that* good in math...)

-Lengthen Seasons, and time alltogether

This seasonal thing is great. It's just too fast paced.. I mean I've played week or two and I've lived almost full year in Ryzom... *If* a season were like a week (or month =:o ) It would allow people to come up with regular events.. like new year. Start Of Summer Celebration etc.. It would make seasons look like bigger thing.. Now all it seems to do is move those foragers about a bit.. Make it an occasion for all. (and day's could be a bit longer too ;) Even if I'm not that big RP'er I can see how it would allow a little more RP events to occur (who'd hate to miss a New Year Hulabaloo, if it comes again next week? :)

-Allow us to use two part names

And names. I have an impression this is Ropeplaying game, so it seems odd there is no way to have a surname.. Or other..
Okay, making this by giving people " " to use in naming would do just fine, but by making a new slot "surname" that player could hide.. or make three fields ("FirstName", "SurName", and optional "CallSign") and give people ability choose how to show name...
(full name, callsign, last/first name only etc...)

Okay these two last name ideas could be pretty hard to work with, at least at this point :) (unless you allow people to rename themself for a little while after change :)

...
Hmmh my posts allways grow larger than I intend them to... Sorry about that.

Just something that's hardly said anywhere: A year in Ryzom is 4 cycles long, so 16 seasons alltogether. That's 72 RL days. You've almost lived a full cycle in Ryzom, you still have 3 to go before you've lived a full year.

They probably did it that way so that the seasons change quicker and materials respawn more often :)

1. Lack of quick visual aids (read tick marks) on things like the dig screen
2. lack of tick marks on group screens for quick decision making
3. quests on new/starter island that totally screw up your fame before you even understand the whole fame concept
4. Many missions lack clarity or make assumptions of your knowledge of game --that is a bad/flawed idea
5. getting blown up because a mob member obscuers a dig screen and or a chat pops up over the top of the dig visual
6. Lack of training on teleports- you can be litterally in game for weeks before someone tellls you you can buy tp tickets

There are only two missions on Silan that give fame, the ones from the Kami and the Karavan. Doing either or both can not hurt you at all. They only raise fame with the giving faction and don't lower anything.

If youre fame values looked skewed it's probably the starting values for your race.

The biggest issue I have is the fact that I can not get enough credit to use all the abilities I have. Example: I am using melee and I have the ability for DMG, any special DMG (bleeding, ignore armor, slow), and accuracy among others yet I can't use them all because I only can get enough credit to use DMG and accuracy. So what’s the point in having the special DMG if its not going to be used because there is not enough credits.

Wish list time. I do not know how feasible this would be but it would be nice to be able to have an option of riding other animals then the current mount in the game. This is more of a wish list that I thought of in my mind but some creatures would be quite nice to have as mounts.

get used to it. or a better answer is invest in the attack after credits - dodge, parry, critical and feint. then you will have a lot more umpphhh to put in your actions.

I know this can have a bit of "déjà-vu" but, as far as most of the people I play along with and myself are concerned, (and we really are) having more handbars (not a lot just 5 maybe 10 would be fine) would be highly enjoyable.

The "Roadmap" page has a 2 minor issues:

The "you are here" bit hasnt been moved to the Ring release yet (I know its only been a few days :) )

Also the roll-over popups for Spires and Ryzom Ring are reversed (mouse over the Ring shows Spires info and vice versa!).

Re: Forums: What Bugs You The Most? (by Xavier Antoviaque)

OK Im fairly new so a few things i noticed.

1. on the starter island the crafter quest giver (sergi ) has a bad habit of taking the boots your wearing rather than the ones you have in your inventory , firt two quests i think it was he did that. ( i had bought or made some before starting his missions)

2. again on the island ,the very first time i started i was lost at Chaing the strong , trying to figure out how to get the mission to advance, ive played quite a few games , but the small arrow and "OK" in his text was a new one on me.

3. (tryker) starting on the mainland when you get to the messenger in part of the amber chest mission, it gives waypoints to the people you need to talk to in fairhaven , but most people would be dumfounded as to where she wants you to take the records/orders etc to. Unless you zoom the map in you dont realise where some of those places are. A waypoint sure would help.
Even when people manage to find the place , they dont find the people in the buildings and give up in disgust.

4. Some mention of how to get around on the mainland would help too, (speaking of the lakeside area) the portals are hidden and not marked on the map. Unless you happen to trip across one, or someone tells you how to get to say fount.

5. Seems to be no way to tell where you should be working on your leveling for creatures your level. You could be in one area where they are too low then you cross a line on the map poof they kick your butt.

6. No idea why but casting seems to get interupted an awful lot. IE im standing still , target is standing still, i start a cast , interupted.. I can see maybe a resist or a failure, but whats up with the interupts if im not being hit or moving.

7. Godlike critters.. even ones way below me now not giving xp. Usally can be killed in one hit or two, sometimes they become godlike and take 7 or more hits to kill from the resists. I can see if the creature is higher level than me it should resist, but ones that dont give xp any longer should be no challenge and be dog meat in one hit and no resists. If i had a tp ticket for all the times a stupid lower level clopper came from no place (new spawn) and kicked the tar out of me from resists id be rich already :-)

I got more but ill stop now. :-)

I may be wrong but doesn't it set up a waypoint on your compass that points to where the person is? It will be under the missions section on the right click menu if it does. Failing that, use the NPC finder on http://ryzom.hopto.org/ OR http://ballisticmystix.com

I think you miss the point. Ryzom doesn't spoon feed you locations (or anything else for that matter). You have to explore and find them. Once you have been to a portal/spawn point it displays on the map, not before.

That's what the consider system is for - the coloured square and stars tell you in your target window. Right click it and select help, it will explain what the colours mean. More stars equals tougher mob.

I was weeks in game before I even could afford to teleport. Most of the time it was much more economical to swim to Dew Drops than to teleport there ;)

With regard to the ring,

Could we please have a checkbox where we can select invite/free entry for masterless scenarios.

This would enable people to leave scenarios up and running while at work, sleeping etc or just playing on another box leading to more scenarios available too people.

If its set to auto invite then lvl, racial, faction, guild parameters should filter entry and maybe add a max number of players option.

Also with regard to Ring:
  • Can we have listing visibility controls that actually work? For example, if you enable Invitation Only, no one can see the scenario even if they are invited.
  • Tell bugs. You probably already have detailed reports on these.
  • NeL errors. Ditto.

It sets the names for the first 3 or 4 people in fairhaven you have to visit.
Your supposed to do a mission for the messenger , that mission has no waypoint. ,I have run into quite a number of people with the same problem, Unless you realise that you need to zoom in the map to see the green flags , or think to click on the landmarks in the radar pointer , well your stumped.. And should i have to go looking on a website when i first land to do a mission , i think not.

Ill have to take your word on that one , i havent noticed it marking the portals, i have been landmarking them. Still my point , people dont even know they exisit.

Well yeah I realise more stars means a tougher enemy. But 1 star from one animal is tougher than another. 1 star blue plant is a lot easier to kill than a 1 star blue clopper... I can show you places where on the same chunk of land is baying cloppers 5 star blue and right beside that is 1 or 2 star orange
natural progression should be 1 star yellows . Falls back to my point about , How do you know where you should go , besides having to swim all around the place, clicking on everything.

Im not saying everything needs to be spoon fed , on the island they do a pretty good job of getting you going there, but ive seen quite a number of people including myself hit the mainland , and come a grinding halt. What am i supposed to be doing, how do i get places, or where is it.

Sure somethings might be alot easier when your used to them. Try to think of the ones just joining and what they are thinking. Rather than having that amber cube mission when you first land a better idea would be some kind of orientation mission.

I'm a relatively new player, although I've also played the game occasionally since the first public beta.

My single biggest annoyance is that it seems like you can only have one info window open at a time. I have poor short term memory so I would really like to be able to have multiple info windows for multiple items open at the same time for easy comparison.

Next, the fact that the camera auto centers behind you when you cast is annoying, I'm like to be able to toggle that behavior.

A clock! One that shows time in atys and the real world.

A timer so I can set how long I want to play and then just play without worrying about missing work, school etc. because of being engrossed in the game.

The ability to "tear" one or more of the "hand" menu's off and move it around the screen so I can have multiple banks of buttons available easily.

*Theres a pin button on the top bar of windows you can use to keep them open.

*Theres an in game clock on the Map, no real world though, no.

The sound of my feet rustling through the high grass or shuffling through the sand whiever I am standing on . My character seems to be quite mute , yet that stomping what-cha-ma-jigger above the nooby island sure sounds huge .
Why does he have the only feet we can hear ? also I would very much like to "jump" especialy when im running back after that final kill to complete a mission , I really feel bouncy , yet I have no way to express it . I like jumping while running , that was pretty much the only thing that kept me playing WoW for a year ( after the first 6 hours when you hit max lvl it gets kinda boreing ) . Thanks :)

improve server error messages "Error 10: Blah.." so it will instruct player for Klients and/or support page.
.. and/or tell the login server why server is down. i mean, if it's a patch day, let the error message say so ;-)

Dear GM's and Staff members,

Small suggestion,
When someone wants to delete a character, it would be better if the confirmation was to write in "delete" or "<character name" or "delete <character name>" ...

Thank you,

Group Credit for Missions the Group has in common

I would strongly suggest that you make it so that anytime there is an objective to kill a mob in order to complete a mission, that you make it so that everyone who has the mission and is in the group gets credit.

I spent many hours last night trying to get a group going to kill the big kitin boss on the starter island. We finally got the group together, got everyone on the same quest and proceeded to kill the boss kitin. Only one person got credit. I had to log off because I had to work today and it was late.

Needless to say, I logged off very disappointed that I now have to go through the same huge amount of grief to get a group going so that I can get credit for the kill.

This is particularly troubling considering that it's very difficult to get a group together on Cho as it is.

Every major mmorpg has this feature. WoW, EQ2, etc. I can tell you that the lack of this feature is a serious sore spot for me.

One annoyance that is becoming a pita...

After a crash, a stall, etc... I try to relog and

"error 2: user already online, please relog", and it lasts for several seconds.

I *am* relogging, and it keeps saying the same. Why can't I kick the ghost / twin and log as usual? I'd be grateful if you could change that.

Just a couple of things from me...

1) A clock, so I can seee the current time, so when I know I've been on waaaay too long...

2) terrain in the minimap/compass

3) already been said, but I consider it real useful, moving actions between action bars

Re: Forums: What Bugs You The Most? (by Xavier Antoviaque)

apologies for not reading through previous suggestions. I'm trying not to repeat the common ones (Being able to copy/move actions between bars, etc)

* I would love to be able to sell items without needing to open their info first. Say, by holding ctrl+shift while clicking on the item for example. This was one of the first things that truly bugged me when I started playing.

* More sounds while fighting! I'm currently using a pike, and there is no "woosh! Whack! Smack!", just an occasional "pck.". There are some moves that are really cool looking, but end up seeming really tame because they're silent.

* An option to disable the reversal of strafe/turn when holding right mouse button. This has been the first complaint of all ("All" being the key word) 4 people I've invited to play the ryzom trial.

* An option to make your character "Run left" instead of "strafe left", and "run back" instead of "walk back". Altho I guess this would "cheesen" the look of characters zigzagging around.

* Currently when you enter combat, the first hit isn't shown graphically. Somewhat of an anticlimax if I charge towards a mob using my "Impale" action.

* Killing quest bosses on the newbie island in a team was tedious and a chore. Not "hard", just tedious having to wait for his respawn. It really put me off the game quite a bit because it reminded me of camping and waiting in line to kill bosses in other games. It's not fun. I see no substantial harm in giving all team members credit for 1 boss kill.

* This might impair game balance, but I would prefer if you could see what type of damage you were taking in the system info tab. From a roleplaying point of view, one should be able to feel if you are being hit by piercing or smashing damage.

* Currently, the system info says "Vous interrupted mob's spell". I don't know french so it took me ages to figure out what the heck it meant. I thought a guy named Vous was following me around hitting my mobs.

* It's a near-crime that you can't enchant your weapon with a sap crystal by double-clicking.

Edit:

Before creating our characters, me and my friends were told that race didn't matter so we all created different races. After reaching the mainland, it became clear that reaching eachother just wasn't feasable. One of my friends got extremely turned off by this and hasn't logged on since.
If it wouldn't be too drastic of a change, I would suggest a one-time option to travel to another race's capital for free.

Re: Forums: What Bugs You The Most? (by Xavier Antoviaque)

biggest thing that bugs me is the way in which we are actively encouraged to be ante social.
what am i talking about?, well i spent a little over 2 weeks on the starter island where i meet and party with a great many people, My feeling is that the very first people you meet in any game tend to be the people you will spend the majority of your game time with iether in person or just chillin and chatting.
whilst on the island there is absolutely no problem at all just chatting with said people as region chat is avaliable for this purpose, BUT....... i then leave the island and go to my race homeland and i am forced then to totaly forget the friends that i have just left behind because there is no facility to chat with them globaly, yes there is universal chat where you might be able to squeeze a few words to say hi to your mates but it's not designed for idle banter and you are very soon reminded of this fact.

Use tells i hear you say, fair comment but as you all know when someone /tells you a window will pop up on your screen and most likely obscure your view for a few seconds (usualy at the most crucial time), "well thats not that bad surely"!!

Try having a /tells conversation with 6 or more people then say that, my suggestion and the obvious solution would be to incorperate a "Global" chat chanel, this would work in the same way as the universal chat channel without the restrictions, i think this would solve 2 issues 1) the improper use of the universal channel 2) it would enable people to keep in contact with the friends they have made that are not in their region.

I am a complete newbie to this game so ... grain of salt time ;)

1. The minimap is completely useless to me. I can't find anything on it and the colored dots are not different enough for me to make head or tails of what I am looking at.

2. I am having a hard time finding anything in the game when it comes to mechanics. I guess its just that Ryzom is not set up like any other game I've ever played. I anticipate that it will take me a long while to get used to where all the commands and indicators are. So many RPG's have gone icon style that I admit it is a culture shock to jump into this game.

3. The graphics are ... well, odd. I don't want to say they are bad, because they are not. I do find the environments inferior, however, to most current games. The animations do somewhat make up for it as they are INCREDIBLE!! Decent enough trade off for me but I wish the environments were better.

4. I can't jump? Why not?

5. I have to hit f12 to deselect? Huh? This makes no sense to me. Why can't I just left click on a random patch of grass to deselect like every other game in the world? Weird development choice and makes me unhappy.

Hope these help ... if not, disregard :D

you are aware the map can be scroled in and out? with the self set markers its invaluable to me. I agree an empty map doesnt give you more than a rough overview

Where is ze jumping??

I know jumping in most MMORPGs is just a visual thing, but here I feel like a bot stuck to the ground. You get some more variation to the gameplay when you have to jump over ledges etc to get to a location, instead of just moving around on the gound. Just being able to jump over minor objects like small fences and rocks helps.

Maybe its just me, but I miss jumping :P
