My first attempt with The Ring system...

So last night I took my first shot with the Ring system that Ryzom offers and I have to say I was impressed. If anyone has ever wanted to create their own content in this game or any MMO, i strongly recommend you give this system a whole hearted chance and spend a couple hours with it.

In 4 hours last night I was able to create a 8 part quest involving 4 NPCs that had in scene guard patrols, predator patrols, Kitin ambushes, Kitin attacks, and a boss spawn. At the end I felt I had created a great quest series and one that I can't wait to share with my friends.

My recommendations I can offer from my own mistakes:

Save Frequently
Test Frequently
Have a friend help you test it as well.
Don't get disheartened if things don't always work.
Careful not to break your quests by deleting items that other events depend upon.
Take your time when doing the setup and throughly read all "Event" descriptions. Its pretty logical even for a non programmer such as myself.
Pay attention to the difficulty of the mobs you are placing.
Have fun with it because you are going to see the same text and dialog or mobs over and over as you test it.

I look forward now to trying other peoples ring events now that I have had the chance to try it and can see what people can do with it.

If there is one thing I hope the new developers do its offer some sort of hosting so that I do not have to remain in the ring to offer it to other players.

I fully agree with these recommendations. :)

And I'd like to add: Whenever you get the chance, see other people's scenarios. See what they did and how they did it. The Ring currently has a fairly limited selection of elements, but there's a number of tricks to use them in ways that may not be immediately obvious for a new Ringer.

I think that's on the top of everyone's Ring wishlist. :D
