This is interesting. I've always been annoyed by the backpacks. I wish for an option to toggle them on or off by the scenario creator. I do understand the need for them with scenarios that depend on story items alot. Like take this cursed stone to xyz to advance the story. If the player with the cursed stone logs out / crashes, the stone is gone, the scenario stalled, because there naturally was only *one* cursed stone.

However in the other case, like my party scenario, I have introduced a local currency players can earn and spend. Usually they earn more then they spend and once logged out a backpack containing the currency stays. Now if another player was to log in, obtaining the backpack(s) would instantly give him/her alot of money and spoiling the fun of earning it.
