nel_drv_opengl_win is a too old version.

Hi,

Just cannot get this game to work. Just trying out the trial, I used to play briefly years ago, never had this many problems.

I downloaded the game using the torrent and direct download. Neither works. After I install the game, I run the launcher, the game seems to patch something (33.0MB worth). I click on restart the launcher, nothing happens. Then I manually click on the .exe to start the game and this error will not even let me get to the launcher:

nel_drv_opengl_win is a too old version. Ask for a more recent file

I have tried both direct3d and opengl modes in the configuration. I don't have a virus and patching the game initially gave me no errors.

File size/date:

nel_drv_opengl_win_r.dll - 1.17 MB - June 10, 2009
nel_drv_opengl_win_rd.dll - 992 KB - July 10, 2008

Just letting you know that the download that is available on the website does not seem to work. Thanks.

windows probably does not get the hint and keeps .exe file in use so patch fails. game needs to relaunch itself or it does not work.
next time, check if .exe is visible in task manager after clicking 'restart' and kill it if it's there. it should allow patch to continue (unless windows kills patch process also)

Yes, I initially looked for that. But it doesn't seem to be the case. At least there is no visible Ryzom process running.

I have now tried to run the client on two separate computers, one with Win XP32-bit, and one with WinXP-64 bit, and I get the same result.

It's not that big of deal, I am only on a trial account, but it was frustrating to say the least :(

Hi wirerzo,

Sorry to hear you are having problems. I downloaded and patched the game myself just now; everything went fine. So the problem lies elsewhere.

nel_drv_opengl_win_r.dll is indeed of an incorrect date; judging by the date it appears to not have been patched at all, so it appears that something has gone wrong during the patching process.

Have any of the other files in your Ryzom installation directory been modified by the patcher? (They would have the date and time of when you patched)

What is the date/time of the client_ryzom_rd.exe file and client_default.cfg files?

To force a repatch, you can delete the "unpack" subdirectory in your Ryzom installation.

Should that give no solution, you can download the correct versions of the files here:
ftp://ftp.ryzom.com/nel_drv_opengl_win_r.dll
ftp://ftp.ryzom.com/nel_drv_direct3d_win_r.dll

Re: nel_drv_opengl_win is a too old version.

Thanks Sywindt. I will try those links. The actual client_ryzom_rd.exe file is old as well. For some reason just cannot get the game to patch. I am unfortunately not at my home computer so I cannot check. I have tried deleting the unpack directory to force repatch, but no matter what when I click on the client_ryzome_rd.exe file I get this error. Anyways, thanks for the help, I will keep trying :)

Finally got in :) Not sure what was different this time, but after one last reinstall it finally worked. This time when it initially patched, when I clicked on restart the launcher, it restarted and patched the rest of the game. Anyways, thanks for the help :D

Re: nel_drv_opengl_win is a too old version.

I have the exact same problem as wirerzo. I hate to revive a thread like this but i thought that making a new one while this one is fairly fresh would be a waste of space.

I use 64bit Windows 7. I have, as wirerzo, tried all the things listed in this thread.

I have tried using Sywindt links of the correct versions, but when i used them i get 'Path not found for ryzom.ttf' error. Re-installed a couple of times, but that did nothing.

As for the modification date and times, both client_ryzom_rd and client_default we're modificated by the patch, since their modification dates show today's date, while the .dll's show either july 10th or june 11th.

Re: nel_drv_opengl_win is a too old version.

The error of ryzom.ttf not found even though the file exists (it should be in the data/fonts directory) is a problem I have seen before. In most cases, it was caused by caused by a virus present on the computer and was solved after a scan and clean; I recommend you run a thorough scan on your system after uninstalling Ryzom.

If an uninstall/scan/reinstall does not solve your problem, then please do the following:

1. Delete log.log in your Ryzom install directory.
2. Start up Ryzom and recreate the problem 1 time.
3. Upload/attach the newly created log.log file here

This should give us more information about the problem. You can also contact a CSR in our live support chat using CeB.

The scan hasn't showed any viruses.

Here is my log.log file after recreating the ryzom.ttf error.
