Re: Come Back Everyone
After several conversations and some pondering I have come to the conclusion that it is perfectly normal for people to enter a community of this nature, hang around a while, then move on. The reasons are legion, but all lead the same place.
When a cataclysmic event like the current and recent state of affairs comes along, it becomes a catalyst and a larger than usual number of members will leave the community, never to return. (Go visit New Orleans for a real life example.)
As much as I hate to see people leave, I understand now, and wish you all the best wherever the winds may take you.
Those of us who are newer to the community, with many things still to accomplish, and with a fresher view, may have a hard time comprehending how one could simply leave. But each of us must choose a course each day, each hour, and in the long view playing or not playing a game is of no consequence.
With that said, I am happy to see that a strong core of the community remains, and will serve as a nucleus and a source of leadership for the multitude of homins yet to come. Perhaps we may solve some of the sticky socio-political issues which have plagued us recently, or at least become more friendly about our differences. I can see some of that already, and hope to preserve it as populations again grow.
So, to all those who have left our fair home, bon voyage, thank you, and may the deity of your choice go with you. We are better for your having been among us.
To those who remain, thank you for your desire to have fun with us! (That's what it's all for, remember?)
