From what I can gather from the posts in this thread (since my last post) and this post I'm quoting is that people see it as just a game and therefore don't mind if it's changed to random or alpha-numeric.
After all there are only 2 reasons someone would object to the change.
1) They are using it as a tool (as described in my previous posts).
2) They are an old account and like to see their name at the top of the list.
