Ryzom - View Single Post - Cant get past the character selection screen (resolved)

Started up the game normally, it went through all the file checks etc OK,
then when I select a character from the Character selection window, it just pauses a bit then returns me to the same page.
No error message.
Internet working.
according to http://www.ryzom.com/home_page the servers are up.

puzzled.
