The faster you master skills, the faster you get close to that dreaded moment when you don't know what to do to entertain yourself anymore. And to be honest, I enjoyed the hunt parties more than the XP itself. Because teaming with cool people is... FUN ! But once the skill is mastered, it is no longer wanted in a leveling group.

When I get DP, I just buy a breath of Ma-Duk and take a chill pill. I sit down, chat and relax or dig in a land I already mastered because I need the mats anyways.

Yes I'm crazy. But as I used to say, back when I was on Silan, back when the skills were capped at 21 for free trials, when the only skill I could use to burn DP was craft (OMG, the heresy !) : "Burning DP makes me rich !" And I left Silan with 700k dappers, which is more than most newbs coming to mainland.

Yeah, had masters myself in the past. But the fact that you are not generally wanted in teams at 250 does suggest that most people playing are playing to level to get their 250 title. So largely it is about leveling for a lot of people, ok they may not want to level everything to 250 and some are not concerned with leveling much at all as they are fairly happy with what they have and are able to do.

And if you have masters in what you want then DP will not affect you either way.

The reason I opened these 3 threads was because I think Ryzom needs to be made a bit more new player friendly so that they are not so heavily dependant on established players. That does not mean it needs to be radically altered but some tweaking would be necessary (imo ofc).

But I was surprised somewhat (with the lack of population) that people seem to be happy with the status quo. Because I don't think keeping things as the are will help the game survive in fact I think the new owners are doing a good job just keeping it going. And finishing the rites quests won't get people into the game it might keep a few established players happy for 5 minutes.
