Super Simple VCD Title
Wanna make a quick VCD title with VCD 2.0 Toolkit, with just looping MPEG assets? Don't want any sequences, menus, etc? Here's how:
- Start a new project.
- The PC version will prompt you for a project name.
- On the Mac only, hit the New Volume button at the top of the Volume Map window.
- Save the project. The name of the project, plus an
_1
, should automatically show up as the volume name.
- Open the Assets Manager and import the desired MPEG clips.
- Open the Tracks Manager and drag the imported MPEG clips from the Assets Manager to the Tracks window, in the desired play order.
- Save the project again.
- Build the title!
-
Notes:
- The Volume Map window, except for the Volume Name itself, will be empty. In essence, there is no logical structure in the title except that necessary for the MPEG tracks.
- The tracks will play in the order listed in the Tracks window, & then play will loop back to the first track.
- While you can use the Next button to skip to the next track, the Previous button will be inoperative.
- Repeatedly hitting Next on through the last track will take you back to first track.
- On VCD Players you can also access the tracks directly by track number.
- This technique produces a multitrack disc image. Recording to CDR disc in Windows 95 or NT 4.0 requires using the correct procedure.
Alternately, if only one MPEG clip is used, there is this technique:
Single clip looping title:
- Create a new project, give it a name, and save it as in steps 1-3 above.
- Make a menu whose associated video asset (in the "Video", , box ) is the MPEG you want to loop. If the asset is a multiplexed stream, the audio part of the stream will play too. Add branching to Previous, Next, etc only if desired.
- Set the Loop count for the menu to "0". This creates an infinite
loop.
- Drag the Menu to the Volume Entry field in the Volume Manager.
- Save it, Build it.
The advantage of this technique is that a single-track disc image can be built, simplifying the recording process on PC's.
