Tools List. Lets list some programs and such that are handy to have.

Added by Kane about 5 years ago

I thought it be a cool idea if we could make a list or suggest some tools that be handing to have from texture editing to 3d model editing to running a server even.

Right now I think they use 3dmax? I don't know a lot the tools they use these days that's a older one but maybe there is something newer these days.

Anyways I thought be a cool idea for us to list some and heck offer some new ones to the table and your experience with them.

Anyways I'm off to work =)

Free but Professional 3D Editing, Texturing, Animationprogramm -> Blender www.blender.org

Features i would like to see: FBX/Collada support. Both formats support mesh, UV's, bone animations. Almost all 3D editors can export to FBX/Collada.

2D/Texture editing: Photoshop, Gimp

Features i would like to see: Direct support for PSD (Photoshop) and XCF (Gimp) files. Designers can use PSD and XCF files as a texture and don't need to export into TGA or else.

That's my small whishlist :P

Here's something cool that used to be available on hulud.org, called NeL Texture Generator:
http://dl.kaetemi.be/ryzom/tools/nel_tex_gen_10b_src.zip
http://dl.kaetemi.be/ryzom/tools/nel_tex_gen_10b.exe
It's a tool for procedurally generating tileable textures.

Also a doc and sample for multi resolution meshes in NeL:
http://dl.kaetemi.be/ryzom/tools/nel_mrm_interfaces_sample.zip

And a bunch of test files for testing features of NeL graphics driver:

For drawing and texturing I like to use Paint Tool SAI which is a fairly cheap Windows application:
