questions on asset repository

Added by AnomalousUnderdog over 4 years ago

Hi, I'm new here.

I'm part of a group looking into creating our own asset repository website for internal use. We're looking at ResourceSpace and I'm wondering if Ryzom's asset repository software is also under an open source license. If not, I'd appreciate some help into how in Ryzom, 3d files have previews on many angles. I'm assuming a script (maxscript?) was used to take screenshots of the 3d file at various angles and use javascript on the web page to show it. The javascript file facilitating that is obfuscated, so I'm guessing its not free. Its that functionality that we want and something that ResourceSpace doesn't have. So I may try to create a plugin for ResourceSpace to do that. If the code for creating such functionality in the Ryzom asset repository is not free, then is the Ryzom team open to selling their asset repository software?

3d images are indeed prerendered using nel/tools/3d/shapes_exporter probably.

For javascript, its just packed to keep the size small.
Original script is from http://finnrudolph.de/JavaScriptObject/Introduction
