Lights not showing up

I have added a light to the client however no light shows up when i run it through the pipeline, if someone can take a look and see what i have missed I have attached the max file.

Don't have max here right now.
Is it a NeL Light?

I looked through all the source files and didnt see anything in the modifier list for nel lights, just the default max omni light, do I need to apply the modifier? I set it up in the node properties in nel export.

Tried adding the nel lighter modifier but it still isnt working :(

NeL Light is not a modifier, it's a seperate type of lighting. (If I remember correctly.)

Did you make the light part of an IG?

I think lights need to be part of the ig that contains the meshes that will be lighted.
Also, meshes inside ig should have lightmap material, so that they can be lighted.
Per light set the pipeline lights the landscape and ig meshes. That way you can dynamically control static light sets at runtime.
Lights that are not to be built by the pipeline should be configured as Dynamic light. There's a maximum number of dynamic lights, and it's very low, depending on your graphics card.

How do i set a mesh to have a lightmap material? I see a setting for compressed 8 bit lightmaps but nothing for normal lightmaps.

I was using maxmaterials no nel multimaterial however when i try to use the nel material the diffuse doesnt work... also the nel texture throws an error as shown in the video

Under the NeL Material rollout in the NeL Material is a dropdown menu, one of the options is for lightmap.

Is your 3ds Max latest service pack?

I upgraded to 2010 sp2 but still have the same issue.

Try using the previous version of the nel material script instead (rename the highest .vXX number in the script files to just the maxscript extension and move out the current one), maybe there's a glitch.
Note that with the previous version all the max native settings are visible and that you should ignore all those, as they are not used by the exporter.

Ok using version 11 there is no longer a crash, however i cant seem to get the material to actually show up, I applied the texture as a nel multimaterial as well as I tried the standard diffuse texture. The diffuse texture works when I do it directly but not when i do it through a nel material... However the shadow map does seem to be correct at least from what I can tell.

After some further investigation if i use a nel material from one of the ryzom objects and then i modify it there is no issues, however when i make a new one it doesnt apply the diffuse map.

You have to place the diffuse map in the NeL Textures slots, not just in the 3ds Max slots.

In fact, just ignore the 3ds Max texture slots completely. You don't need them.

I placed it in both exactly like in the nel materials from the sources database however it doesn't show up at all in max, i suppose its possible it will show up in game however I suppose I should test that... however it not showing up in max is still a bit of a problem :)

Open the bitmap in the material editor and hit the "show map on model" button.
