I will download the source and try to get a server (on a linux) and my client (on windows) working this weekend...

A chance that there is a tut for this anywhere out there? maybe i should write on... with all my problems...

@narfman0 how the heck did you get it to compile under 9.10? I keep bombing out at the same point in the ryzom build. Are you using i386 or x86_64?

ok restarted compiling... it's working... and working... and now got to UPDATE RYZOM MAKEFILE SUCCESS
but it's still working on it... how long should it take till the next step, what do you think?

I was using i386 in a virtual machine tweaked a bit on my server. You may want to check your makefile and verify it against your system specs - I thought I noticed some specification to use some large set number of processors (4 I think). Also, throughout the build process, while CPU is obviously hit hard, the memory is slammed for large links. When the linux linker (ld most cases) goes to link a bunch of compiled files, it has been maxing out my memory (4GB) and taking a very long time. Maxing out memory is very bad because then it turns to HDD, which is orders of magnitude slower, which may be why your compiles take so long. Don't know what to say there - get more memory?

Slow builds like this are hard to just make faster - that's why I think it might be nice to make some sort of prebuilt packages. I just started building it on my fedora 12 machine, which I am way more familiar with, and I may tinker with building an rpm. It'd be cool to start a build box to make nightly trunk builds along with the corresponding rpm/deb, so anyone can have built packages as recent as 24 hours ago. Fedora 12 (x86_64) has been just as easy as ubuntu, and I like it more and would be willing to try making an rpm for it. Again - any interest?

@narfman
well getting the compiled server (for linux) would be great for me, since i want to try some things put and don't need to compile it myself.
My servers still working on it ... and will take some more time i think... and i will try to compile the client on windows...
