Re: Race-based Animations [Update]
I think its a cool idea, to give us the option to see the new animations in the whole context of the game. I think we will get a better feeling how they fit in.
Thanks Nevrax

Re: Race-based Animations [Update]
So they lost the vote and decided to do an end run around it. Nevrax should go into politics!

Re: Race-based Animations [Update]
I don't think they lost the vote.
As I see it, they 'loose' the voting by 0.23% (Poll Results: New Race-specific Animations On Hold) and that mainly, because most people weren't happy with all new animations. There are some, that I really like to see in game.

As I see it, almost everyone wins - certainly all the players win, however you voted! We're now going to get to experience the animations live for a while, even with the addition of an option to choose when to have the old/new ones active. Then, after that, there's going to be another vote on each of the animations separately. The feedback first time around seems to have been that most people liked 80% of the new animations. Since the vote was 'all or nothing' a lot of people voted yes because they liked 80% of them, a lot of people voted no because they disliked 20% of them. It seems to me that what is propsed is a near perfect solution! If you are desparate to find a loser then I guess the poor animators must feel pretty rotten about things. Obviously they worked hard to produce something they thought was good, and then had it turned down (mostly because of the way it was offered, not because of the offering itself). I suppose if there's anyone that could theoretically be unhappy with this outcome then it's them - an actual politician would have just implemented the stuff and ignored the poll (or not held it in the first place) in an attempt to save face. I wish the politicians we really have acted like this! This seems a significant amount of work being done to implement what, as near as damn it, is a perfect solution. I am very impressed with this proposition by Nevrax. |

Re: Race-based Animations [Update]
And what happens if I don't like the animations for my character after they 'fix' them? I get it forced on me when I 'won' the original vote not to have it.
My point is they've broken their promise yet again.

Hardly. You'll get the option to test and then we'll get, seperately, to cherry pick the ones we do like by the looks of it. Its the difference between asking... "Would you like an icecream, a kick in the nuts, a cake and your leg cut off?" Or... "Would you like an icecream and/or a kick in the nuts and/or a cake and/or your leg cut off?" I reckon most people would vote 'no' to the first question, but would end up with cake and icecream from answering the second correctly. Mmm... icecream. |
