My name is Tiksi and I am from the Isle of Refuge. I am born of Tryker blood and have wonderful crafting and harvesting skills. I do not know my family as I have not found them since arriving at the Isle of Refuge. Sadly I do not remember a time before arriving here. I may even have been born here, I do not know.
I am mainly alone on this Isle of Refuge, awaiting the day that I may go to the Mainland to explore the realities of what I may have left behind and in the hopes of belonging somewhere someday, perhaps finding the family that left me behind. Tiksi |
Re: Introduce Your Character!
There she sat, staring into the flames at the gate of the great city of Pyr. The fire reminded her of the great unfortune that happened to her and her parents. Both her parents were quite good yubo farmers. They didn't care about the laughs and giggles they got from other fyros, even when they called them 'feeble Matis yubo herders'. Her father always said that whether you were herding yubo, gingo or the great dragon himself, it was not your profession that made you a great and strong fyros but the way you acted when faced with great peril and danger.
And so one day my father made clear to all that he was a great and strong fyros indeed. Two fyros children had wondered outside the gates of Pyr and found themselves on gingo-hill. My father who was returning home barely noticed what prey the distant gingo where lurking upon but when he heard the childrens screams he did not hesitate. Slaying half a dozen gingo's he managed to keep the children from becoming gingo lunch. Little harm was done to them but father had been clawed and bitten several times. Although the family name now comes with some sort of fame, father paid the price. Yubo herding became difficult due to the ill-healing wounds and soon he was stuck to his bed with fevers and infections. He would not live to see summer again. Mother was devastated and *continues with a very soft voice* had to be housed with her sister for she would not even try to pick up normal life again. Hephista was 20 when all of this happened. She tried to take over the yubo farm but business did not go very well. For two years she tried and survived until the day... something happened. She still doesn't know how it started, all she remembers is flames consuming the farmhouse and her trying to save the locked in yubo's, some unfortunate yubo's even caught on fire! She will never forget the sound of their squeeking nor the sight of flames engulfing her former home. Now she sits at the great gate of Pyr, homeless with only one worn down set of light armour and a long sharpened stick. All she caries in her backpack (made of yubo skin) are a few dappers to buy food and drinks and a piece of amber with the family history. Her mind wonders on what she will do next. Her name is Hephista. Truth, Honor, Discipline and Justice are her values. She was born 2510 and she is ready to conquer Atys! |

Re: Introduce Your Character!
DRACHLEI : A nomad’s story
===================== My father was a fool. Not the village idiot, mind you, but a fool nonetheless on many aspects, but let me not go ahead of myself. I am Drachlei, a zorai by nature, a nomad by choice… maybe a fool of my own but I can not turn my back on my calling. I was also a loyal student of my father whom Atys claimed not so long ago, Atys be blessed. Yes… I feel Atys did my father a favour. This happened on a bright summer day in the outskirts of Zora. His deliverance came under the claws of the Torbaks near the Tutors camp. He was lieing down on the grass, breathing in Atys secrets when two torbaks towered over his head and pounced. With very little time to resist, one torbak aimed straight for his leg, preventing him from getting up, while the other grabbed his throat. The precision and might with which they struck in a fraction of a second were as only one of the best predators in Atys could… and that was that. I may seem cold about relating these events but that is my nature. My love for fellow homins, be they kin or friend, is superceded only by my love for Atys. So if Atys had felt his time had come then so be it. My day will come also and I do not need pity nor do I need to be prepared. My love for Atys has probably even grown as a matter of fact from what I know to be truth and seek confirmation through Atys’s secrets. Anyways, I will share this in due time, Atys willing, when I think homins are ready for the biggest of all secrets I have come upon in my quest. But to understand it, you must know how to listen. To listen is to commune with Atys. I talk of Atys as a main entity. We all know, and our legends do not condemn such thought, that Atys is a living planet, a complete ecosystem, with its plantlife, creatures, from the grazing bodoc to the Mighty Kipee, as well as its morphology broken down into four main parts. From the depth of the Prime Roots, where the fiercest kitins dwell, to the canopy far above our heads with its numerous mysteries, all is one. Life is abundant; life is everywhere. Life is everything and everything is alive. It came to me once, or maybe Atys revealed herself a little to me, while I was meditating under a lengthy root protracting from the bark and over my head. Its many capillaries brushed against the surface, swaying to the wind. The Enchanted Isle can be very peaceful when the Kitins are not roaming around in search of fresh mektoub meat or the Shalahs are not bellowing their guttural cries and thumping the ground with their clumsy walk. Peering at the Kami Teleport, I thought about all the questions our forefathers had asked for so many generations. I thought about the Kami and the Karavan who both take care of Atys in their own peculiar way and of the homins living in her. I thought about the numerous mysteries that still haunt us about Ma-Duc and Jena, their existence, their purpose, their legends, OUR legends and that of our four great leaders: The great sage Mabreka Cheng-Ho, son of the great Zoraï warrior Leng Cheng-Ho, the bold warrior and fyros Emperor Dexton, the wise matis King Yrkanis, son of King Yasson, the tryker Ailan Mac’kean, The Lady of Loria. I thought about all these forces and the delicate imbalance that rose like the tides on the shores of Aeden Aqueus, favoring one faction over another from time to time but never really solving anything definitely. As I sat there, lost in my thoughts, I felt the urge to lie down on the bark, my chest across its oily skin, my ear to the ground. It was humid but warm. It felt like, for one moment, Atys was appeased. No sound in the air but the occasional gentle whisp of the tendrils above me. In the distance and fading away, was the pitter patter of a few nettled mektoubs, a birdlike chirp from a creature hidden in the branches of a palm tree nearby… then silence. When my ears stopped listening, my heart began to. I cherished this pleasing moment. For just a few minutes, I absorbed my surroundings. My ear still to the ground, my head turned to its side, I let my eyes slowly follow the horizon. I looked at the palm trees lightly swaying; the tall flower stems bursting with vibrant rosey colors very close to my eyes. Then, as my father had taught me, I closed my eyes to listen again without distraction, looking for the slightest message Atys would condescend to give me. I heard a minute sound. At first, I thought the kipees were coming towards me but then I realized it was really coming from under me, under the bark, maybe as far down as the Prime Roots. I heard a very soft crunching noise from beneath the bark. It was rising closer until I could sense it ready to burst up into the air. Pieces of bark started spurting up from the ground beside me until at last a blue, feathery bug flew out. Its wings made no noise as it flew around first, in one direction, then in another, then in another. Then as suddenly as it had appeared it sprang back into the ground leaving no trace of its passing. As the dust settled down it left a strange odor of oil and sap. Then silence for the third time, total silence. Not a bird sang, not a mektoub grunted, not even a kipee dared trouble the serenity of the moment. And that’s when I heard it for the very first time. Well, it wasn’t really the first time; I had heard this sound so many times before, but had never understood it. It remains a mystery to all homins. Neither the Kami nor the Karavan have confessed they know why Atys groans like that. Yes, Atys groaned. I can not say it any better. She groaned because she was happy and sad for that one moment shared with me. She groaned like I would have done at that moment while sharing the energy around me with Atys. She had revealed her secret to me. I am not special. I am just a common Zorai, but she let me REALLY hear her for the first time. Atys is not dieing. Atys is happy for the homins and offers her riches. I can not explain it all to you at this moment, I don’t even know if I could explain it to myself right now. But I have the firm conviction that Atys is simply calling out to us homins of all races. She needs us all to unite with her for a greater purpose. She does not need what the Kami and Karavan are doing to her, using us as their instruments of terror. In fact, the Kamis and Karavans ARE the virus that slowly destroys Atys and not the homins nor the goo. But before I start sounding like my father, an illuminate of sorts, I must keep quiet. Revealing her answers to our numerous questions requires many moons to pass. It is my meditation period now; then I must find my rest for tomorrow will be a great communion with Atys… for me at least. For now, I can only remind you the things all Atysian races share which are also the secrets of Atys. Mysteries like how did homins ever appear on Atys soils. Who ensured the homins shelter on Atys: the Kamis or the Karavan? Why do the Kami and the Karavan, who are so powerful, never attack each other directly in a decisive battle? What is the goo and why are Kamis afraid of it? I think Atys has answered these questions time and time again but we have never listened. Such has been my privilege and such could be yours. I told you of my tale just so you know at least why I am a wonderer, a nomad and unaffiliated to any faction, nor will I ever. I seek to find the answers Atys will bring to me when and how she feels it right. If I understand her language correctly, then I think it is my duty to reveal what I can, as Atys wills. If you should cross my path you will no doubt see me sneaking around ( I hate to meddle with Atys' cycles), gently foraging all lands, crafting attire for an Atysian friend, questing for answers far and wide, but mostly meditating in a shady area, far from the bustle of Atys life and closer to her heart. If you ask me who I am. I am a common Atysian first and foremost. I have been ridiculed by some of my own and several races but my skin is thick and my quest is noble. I will continue to gather all the knowledge Atys will let me have. While I respect everyone of you and wish we could unite in helping Atys mold the worst ennemies of all... But I am ready to wait for better times and circumstances that favor such. On this I bid you farewell, and may Atys favour our crossing again. |

Re: Introduce Your Character!
hi all,
My name is matora. Some of the cho world in starters island will reconise my name. And i hope i a good way :) I'm a bit shy, and not very confident in my skills. Not yet, maybe never. But i want to be part of the homies who makes a difference to the world i love. That i introduce myself today has all to do with my first steps on mainland. Yes indeed, what for the most of you is the the most normal place to be, for me it gave me the shakes in my knees. My dream, to be an healer, and some day, maybe a good one, made me hope to encounter many homies with who i could join to explore the world and to upgrade my healingskills. I was a bit disapointed, that i was alone in fairhaven i felt(feel) lost. The homies i talked to were friendly enough to guide me trough the town, to give information and quests. But their task was to stay where they are, sell and buy things, to give information to other adventures like me. But no one around to expore the beatifull world i was in now. But i keep myself strong, i will find other regions, full of fellow homies to learn to know, to fight with. I hope to meet you soon and learn from you so i shall get stronger and mean something to this world and their people......... |
Re: Introduce Your Character!
Ashjonakk here, reporting to the forums.
While I have been playing for 7 or such months now, I have never really had time to spend here on the forums. I have been too busy ingame really. I joined SoR with this character although under a different name, which I later had changed. Some of you might have met me there as Malaco. Same guy, same char, just changed my characters name to Ashjonakk. I joined the guild The New Empire not long after I reached the mainland, and since then I have tried to help out where I can. My current status in TNE is High Officer, thus I often work with our new players. I hope to see you all ingame someday. You can often see me at treks and events, as I love to hang around such things to meet new players, even if they're old to the game. |

Re: Introduce Your Character!
hi There
Im Decibel Im a fyros and a kami, and i like to do a bit of everything: healing, melee, magic, mining, crafting, discovering the world, blablabla-rp etc.. I am lazy so all my skills are fairly low :p I was one of the very first characters (if not the first) to enter Aristopole when server went up in 2004 and I have played from time to time since then, 1 month per year or every 2 years more or less =) It feels good to know the game is still running. Such a unique and amazing world. Even tho I didn't play much, I ve had my share of great fun each time I resubbed. Also I take advantage of this post to wish good luck to the new team. I hope you guys can make it with the money. Ok time to finish the blabla, I hope everyone will have fun with this official rebirth and who knows, maybe I see you in Atys one of these days. Peace&Love&Longlive Decibel |
Re: Introduce Your Character!
Hello there, everyone!
I'm just starting Ryzom (patching at the moment) and I'm looking forward to exploring a new world and a new game. I'm an experienced girl player, I've been through many mmorpgs. My main interest is roleplay, which server / guild would you recommend for me? I hope to meet fellow roleplayers soon :) Thanks for any feedback. |
Re: Introduce Your Character!
Welcome to Atys :)
Though this is the wrong thread for this, let me help you. Server depends on your language preference ;) Arispotle = international (mostly english) Lenon = German Aniro = French As for Guilds, there are many. And many do roleplay and many would surely love to add you to their member list. Take a look here for a list of active guilds on Arispotle. But be advised to take your time and don´t just hop onto the first train that comes rushing in. Consider the style of play and the people of the guild. After all you´ll be stuck for some time with them and vice versa :D ;) For example getting into a PvP oriented guild that doesn´t care for RP as a hardcore RPer can be pretty awkward. Good luck and enjoy your stay :) CU Acridiel |
Re: Introduce Your Character!
Greetings Homins. I've just subscribed to this wonderful game after a fun trial period.
I've played lots of MMO's before including LOTRO and a bit of EVE plus lots of the Asian free to play ones. However none of them has felt quite complete for me. I was attracted to Ryzom because of the openess of play style and the skill based advancement as well as a fully fledged crafting system. I'm also quite keen to get into some RP with this one as I love the lore behind Atys and it's such an interesting world. In the trial I tried out one of each race to see which I liked best and I think I'm settling on a Fyros warrior type, although I do love the Zorai, hell they're purple so whats not to love :-) Anyway I've just left Silan and would love to find some interesting people to play/chat/RP/explore/whatever with around Pyr and am hoping to find a nice RP-ish guild once I get my bearings. Hope to see you ingame and IC. Cat |

Re: Introduce Your Character!
Hello all- Just heard of this game on a Forum I regularly read and it sounds quite impressive... I miss the old sandboxy HARDCORE MMO's of yesteryear and really miss the days of highly populated MUD's.
I am looking forward to playing with a mature community and not being "forced" to do fetch quests from zone to zone until I can finally raid :P I am most likely going to play a crafter/explorer type toon- His name will be Eppenguar (I am sure nobody has THAT name lol) on the US (English speaking server)- My download is at 38% (for some reason the .exe I torrented didnt work- Just kept freezing my computer) so I have a bit to go- BUT with some luck I will see you guys tonite. Also, are there any restrictions on the trial (no use of mail, cant talk to people, whatever) because 21 days is a hell of a free trial (I'm not complaining) and I am so bored with WOW and EQ2 and LOTRO that if i enjoy what I see- I will probably have finally found a new home. |

Welcome! No restrictions, you can even leave the newbie area and head to the mainland. Hope our population doesn't scare you off too much. :p |
Re: Introduce Your Character!
WOW- Spent about 4 hours in game last night and that was enough to convert me. I had issues with my video card (needed to change to Open GL) and at first it was running really poorly- Within seconds of asking for assistance I had several members of the community give me a very helpful explanation as to how to change to Open GL.
So, after playing around with the crafting for a few minutes (harvesting actually) I was amazed by the depth- This is the only MMO I have played in this Millennium where I actually had to read things- Twice.... I am in MMO Heaven right now- Skill based advancement? Sandbox? Deep Gameplay? Helpful Community? Death penalty???? Why haven't I heard of this before? Seriously- I have been wasting my time playing EZ Mode, linear MMO's with a bunch of 1337 Kiddies and I could have been here. Thanks for offering a hardcore MMO that hasnt been dumbed down for the masses- In the few hours I played I have found more "meat" than I have in countless hours of "raiding", "faction grinding" and "racing to endgame"- And havnt scratched the surface. So why (seriously) is this game 5 years old and I have never heard of it? There are a ton of people out there who have been waiting for this game and yet they dont even know its here. I will be spreading this game around to people I know will appreciate what you have done here- I sure do. I WILL be subbing to this game (and after only a few hours of play- It amazes me that I know this already) immediately when my trial ends- And will be focusing on my crafting/harvesting in the meantime (havnt even had to try combat yet =P ) - Thank you for the warm welcome from the community and thank you for a sandbox to play in to the devs. You will be seeing Eppenguar alot from now on. |

Re: Introduce Your Character!
This doesn't really come close to what bluegrazz said, or maybe a better way to say it would be to say he said it better than I could. :-) I had tried the free trial a few months back but was unable to sub at that time. After months of trying about a dozen other MMOs, I kept thinking of how I missed Atys even though I never made it to the mainland. I continued to play my "main" MMO (which shall remain nameless here, but fear not, it isn't WoW) but even then, I kept thinking about how I really wanted to return to Atys. Something about the story, the world and the gameplay, or really a lot of little things came together & I ended up with a "whole is greater than the sum of its parts" situation.
Finally I'm back. I may not be able to spend as much time in Atys as I'd like in the coming year. (Second child next year, and for those of you with no children, infants tend to demand your undivided attention for some reason.) Even so, I'll be here. This game demands an immersive approach so I intend to take my time. Anasasiel will see you all in Atys. Amongst a few other characters. :-) |

Re: Introduce Your Character!
OOC:
I was excited when I found the ingame profile page and wrote the following but it didn't all fit. If you see me and read my info you will find the short version of: Description: Ima’ru Lix is fair looking, slim and with a dark feminine beauty not uncommon for a Zorai. She has a strong lucid voice. Although physically of average strength she has a sharp mind. And she is believed to be about 18 years old. (I couldn't figure out her birthday in Jena years, some help would be appreciated). History: Ima’ru Lix understood that she was blessed with the heart of an explorer. From birth she was a wanderer, a watcher of the stars. She credits the love she feels for exploration to her people, and at the same time her curious nature caused the strained with her family. One day, on a walk through the lush jungles near her tribe, she stumbled upon a ranger. He told her about Silan, of the great cities beyond, and how the Kami and Karavan share their technology with them. Ima’ru’s curiosity grew strong and against her parent’s wishes she crossed the uncharted lands to find the great city of Silan. It was there she learned the craftsmanship of the Matis, the foraging techniques of the Trykers, the warrior skills of the Fyros, and the magical roots of her people. She was not prepared for the hardship and the commitment her new skills demanded, but she worked hard to unlock all the mysteries revealed to her by the Kami and Karavan disciples. Her people were simple in comparison to them. The more time she spent weaving their technology, the more she wanted to learn; ever since she studies her surroundings with the caring eyes of the Kami, and the scientific curiosity of the Karavan. Beliefs: Ima’ru Lix is fascinated by the ways of the Kami, and shares their compassion toward Atys but questions their aim. She is equally enthralled by the Karavan and their technology, but fears their secret experiments and alien presence. With some consideration and obvious doubts she deals with the two religions out of necessity and with care. In her mind the one true enemy is the Kitin, and holds nothing back to the opportunity to eliminate their numbers. Personality: Ima’ru is loyal to herself first, and then to her friends. She does not judge by words alone but by their actions. She is social and treats others with the same respect she expects for herself, but is also a self imposed loner. She is the typical workaholic that enjoys the fruits of their own labor. |
Re: Introduce Your Character!
Cut n Paste from an old post in the saga section but alot of new homins about so hope you dont mind.
Crythos arrived in Fairhaven as a babe in arms. The Tryker capital was a long way from what it is today, just a collection of huts on the shoreline and the biggest Trykers working and sweating in the sun to drive in the first of the pilings for the Piers that form the Capital we know today. Crythos never saw much of his parents they were gifted foragers and were in great demand to supply the crafters of the village as it was back then. There were still traces of the Kitin horde in the lakes creating a constant need for weapons and armour, Fairhaven needed defending and the lakes needed clearing. His parents would leave at first light and often not return until after sunset. Sometimes they would return empty handed with tales of running and hiding and sometimes they would return grim faced covered in blood and dust whispering tales to others but not for the ears of the toddler Crythos. While his parents were away Cry would be tended by the crafters on the shoreline, they would sit in a circle at the sight where the stables stand today, many other Tryker children used to play in this protective circle and so it came that these children and the crafters became a sort of extended family for Crythos. Many years passed and Crythos started to take an interest in the smaller items the crafters made and the intricacies of how they went together, Cry started fiddling with cast off materials and found he had some skill with his fingers. Amongst the Trykers on the shoreline work progressed and Fairhaven grew. New faces would come and sometimes-familiar ones would disappear. Crythos never paid much attention, enjoying the sunshine and swimming amongst the busy workmen or watching the crafters until one day his parents didn’t come back. Cry had never known a family life, as others were now beginning to enjoy in the new security of the growing Fairhaven, but up to now the darker side of life had never touched him. He began to take an interest in some of the quieter conversations and found that he was allowed to listen, he guessed it was time he became a more active part of the community that protected him. Many of the tales told when a Tryker didn’t return mentioned Kitins or Kami lightning, he had never seen a Kitin or a Kami but he stored these tales in a dark heavy place in his heart. Cry continued to learn and found he could turn out a half-decnt bowpistol but rifles were his passion and he took his place in the circle of crafters. He had started too hunt a bit too mostly hiding behind the big warriors doing what damage he could with his guns and also learning to tend the wounds of others a bit as well, this was his life and all the time people came and Fairhaven grew. One day returning from hunting a strange light shone over Fairhaven, as he grew closer to home he could see something that looked like it was made of highly polished bone hovering in the sky and another object of similar construction was being lowered too the ground. Cry was not alarmed by the strange black clad figures standing around as the village elders were amongst them and seemed to pay them some respect but showed no fear. One of the older crafter spoke of a material called “metal” and pacts for “teleportation” Cry was confused and guessed he would be told later. He was burning with curiosity though and moved closer, as he drew near the device on the ground one of the dark clad figures stepped aside to allow him to approach, he ran his hand over the surface, it was like nothing he had ever touched before and the finer details were beyond his comprehensive in a material that seemed so hard. Crythos was a little dumbstruck by all this but the sound of shouting got his attention, a small group of Cloppas had strayed close and Trykers were grabbing their weapons and running to fend them off. A good friend of Cry’s fell clutching his leg and Crythos reached for his pistol…. He never got to fire, either side of him two of the figures in black had extended their arms and what looked like lumps of brilliant sunshine from a lake ripple knocked the Cloppas down. Cry had seen magic before, even had some skill with it but never liked using it as he had the suspicion the Kami had used to strike his parents down, he would use it to help in an emergency but using it made him feel sick. This however was different the bolts of light had come from a device; he had seen something on one of the figures wrists. Crythos had met the Karavan and he was impressed. He always strove to improve the things he made and learn new things; these people had obviously been doing that for a long time indeed. The village elders although respectful to these Karavan didn’t seem to know to much, they spoke of “Jena” Crythos thought she must be their boss a bit like Stil Wyler was for the Trykers and decided maybe if he did a few favours for the Karavan he might get to meet this “Jena” and maybe, just maybe she would let him have some of the Karavan knowledge and he could help his people better. Crythos grew, learned and travelled, he went to other lands and met other peoples, learned that his Lakeland home was part of Atys, he heard tales of intrigue and conflict. One day amongst the wreckage of a Mek Train in Loria he found a wounded Tryker girl called Babette, many dead Fyros were around and Babette mumbled the word “Gerder” Cry knew what that meant he also guessed she had probably been destined to dance or wait on tables in some back street bar in Pyr. He tended her wounds and took her back too Fairhaven. He left her with the crafter circle sure she was in safe hands. About a week later Cry was strolling down the pier and there she was, she had gathered some pieces of armour and a battered magic amplifier pair. “I can heal” she said, “ I owe you and I will help you”. Cry didn’t trust magic but Babs was an honest sun loving Tryker like himself and they became inseparable. Some people whispered the word slave but they worked together and as they explored the lands it was more than master and servant their lives depended upon each other. As the regions of Atys grew likeminded peoples seemed to be drawn together, Crythos and Babette became part of a group known as “Evolution” and with this band of Homins travelled the surface of Atys exploring, enjoying the sunshine and fighting the Kitin. Crythos is very happy with his “Evolution” family but also has friends in other places, even amongst the Mercenary “Samsara”. Testing times are too come and the face of Atys may change, Jena may come and Cry may get the new knowledge he desires to help his people, but where conflict and politics may interfere he hopes friendship and challenge will endure to drive Atys forward to the future. |
Re: Introduce Your Character!
(( Meet Nityae. ))
At a glance, one would see nary more than a young Matis - wiry, and lithe. Eyes the color of grass stains, a nose turned slightly crooked by childhood, and lips more apt to laughter than scowl; all framed by short cropped black hair. A moment more and mayhap one would hear footfalls that sound unnatural on cobblestone and at home on soil. Or even hear a small, infectious giggle that grows into a tear drawing belly laugh. Or even hear terse words splayed in a gentle tone turn into verbose, drawling rambles. Yet, look further, and one would see a confident candor lost in thoughts and treading with purpose. Lost, one might say. Searching, another. ((To be honest, I'm not really sure if this thread is still going, but -... Well, meh, why not? A little writing to get the muse going never hurt anyone x] )) |
