What would you do....???????

I had intended to leave the matter as closed after my second post but feel I must respond to caitiff.

I can only really say that I truly don't hold a grudge either in game or out of game. Lifes too short. (Yes, I was annoyed at the time but that's human nature and was why I reflected on the matter before posting the next day.) In principle, I'll team with Guild/Player(s) A or with Player B & I'll go and have a beer in the pub with them after, if they live near me.

I don't read all the BB posts and hadn't seen this issue aired before - at least not in the approach I decided to take.

I had two main reasons for making the initial post.

The first was simply to make people THINK about what they do in game and why they do it, so they can consider whether there is a better or, at least, a slightly different approach that they should take. (If they are comfortable with their stance then I wouldn't go any further in trying to change it. People can agree to differ on certain issues but still work together for common general advancement).

The other is that I recognise that I am far from perfect and wondered if someone would come up with any useful thoughts that I hadn't had. Several people did & I believe I've benefited from that.

One person suggested writing to the Guild leader - something that simply didn't cross my mind. However, having thought about that one I still prefer my approach via BB. I don't think it is for me to start delving into the why's and wherefore's of this specific situation. I wanted to air it as a more general discussion. In this specific situation, for instance, I don't actually know if it is Guild A falling out with Player B or just a small group of players in Guild A who have fallen out with Player B. Frankly, I don't even want to know - it's their business - I just want to get on with enjoying a brilliant game.

In passing I have to say I thought Varelse's post summed it up very well. As it happens, I have spoken directly in-game with the Guild Leader of the Guild involved and also had peripheral dealings with him on 2 other occasions. I have, indeed, found him as Varelse describes (and I don't doubt other members of Guild A are as well) just as I found Player B to be a good guy who was very patient with my mistakes when I teamed with him and who gave me some great tips and advice.

The only reason I would distance myself from Guild A is that I could see myself possibly being put in an difficult position and I wouldn't want it to happen. Suppose I team with Player A & we come across Player B dead on the ground. I would be honour bound to res him. I have no way of knowing whether Player A is big enough to accept that or whether that would lead to more falling out - which I would not want.
