Just what I was thinking! Why is it always the *good* ones that leave and never the ones that consistently stir up all the trouble and act like it was everyone else's fault.

At this point though I'm sorry to see *anyone* leaving - I hope Ryzom can handle all these losses at once, and I surely hope Atys can.

Re: Culture clash

If the community gets itself back to normal, everything will be fine. Because I browse the forums on MMORPG.com a lot, and several people have posted something along the lines of "looking for an MMORPG with RP and PvP," and whereas before, Ryzom would not have been such a strong candidate because it lacked for the most part the latter half, now I can recommend Ryzom to those people. Wider appeal. But not necessarily to the wrong crowd, as demonstrated by the former half of the request: RP.

This was a tough weekend, I personaly will not stop playing the game I have come to love. Adjust to changes, yes, quit, no.

The game changes, if it didnt, we would all be gone sooner than you think. In things like this, change is neccesary or bordom and burnout soon follow.

The weekend is over, the forum chaos is over. And hopefully some of the flavor of the posts will be over forever.

Acridiel, I respect and /bow to your opinions here, if people cant see that sometimes it helps to have an outsider come in and show us how STUPID we (and I DID say we) have become on these things....then maybe it's time for them to grow up.

Much respect to the open minded

Thank you.
But Sotbo is in his own way right.
Some people just can´t seem to overcome their grudges. It´s those people who are not able to coexist, that well... that tear a hole into a very good and open community and destabilise it from within.
It´s very sad to see, but over history mankind has always shown a penchant for following the loudest shouter and proclaimer of "truth".

I told you MY truth, yes. But it´s a truth I can live with and I don´t complain about it. I have no reason to.
Some people do like PVP, some don´t. Some of them get into each others hairs everytime they meet, be it INGame or on the Forums. It´s on their own volition that they´ve chosen to do so. If they feel forced, well then they should either think about saying something constructive, something that helps the community to understand THEIR truth, or just go on playing their game.
Letting others play their game and coexist.
Simple as that.
Those who can´t do that but still play...
Well, we have to compliment them for not letting down the game and keeping the faith in something, even if its not their so despised community or the Game they so hate for being to "whatevertheythinkiswrongwithit".
Unless they care to explain it to us.
I did not want to shame any of you, and I ceratinly don´t want to start a flame war between the Servers or somesuch.
I just wanted to show, as I did before on Lenaon, that the Game needs everyone that plays it. Regadless of his/her playstile and his/her ability to post eloquently on the forums or his/her introspective abillity.
We´re all players in the same game, lets make it a fun game!

Re: Culture clash

Sad to see you go, among many others who disappeared from my friendlist And as I read Jessicas interview at the Jolt - it's going to be more "From gankers to gankers" in the future as well *sigh*

Shame as there is nothing compared to Ryzom at the moment playstyle, or systemwise if we forget the bad PvP implementation... I hate to leave but at the moment I hate more to stay, seeing what kind of people have the say in game, at boards and as the future development goes. The problem still is and has been that the ganker side is very vocal and they claim always to speak for bigger portion of the population than they really represent - I think the poll here in general about PvE/PvP was more accurate about what the players really want. (and the 70+ people answering represent a very good part of Arispotles present population)

*wonders what will happen to English speaking refugees at Leanon or Aniro*
At least we share same gaming hours

Re: Culture clash

Uhm, sorry, but she definetly says that there´ll be MORE PvE contend comming up. She does give no definite time for it, admitted, but WHERE the Hell do you read MORE PvP comming up,appart from Spires that have been coming a loooong time, in that Interview????
Even with R², those People who´ll want to built thier own PvP Arenas, will do so, but you don´t have to go there, or have you?

*a very confused*

Partly from her gaming history I think, in between the rows, so to say. The hapenings in our friendly little community lately have made me just bit too much sceptic I'm afraid...

I do hope the players can and will create content with the ring that can at least lessen some of the problems and create level playfield for PvE/PvP style players though.

Re: Culture clash

Sorry again, but if people would stop "reading between the rows/lines" and start actually looking for the real contend (HaHa) of any text there would be much less conflict in the world... And not just in this one...

Re: Culture clash

Points are:-
1 - Recognise that there are two different cultures.
2 - Try and understand the different points of view.
3 - Almost everyone is stressed and, looking from a 2 month persepective, it is easy to see how sensitive everyone is. People jumping at the slightest provocation, misreading posts because they are angry or hurt. Trying to hurt back because they are hurt themselves.

Please, please try and recognise the situation you have got yourselves into and try and find a solution.

Good point let me try:

* Ms. Mulligan has worked on the MMRPG industry for years

* Ryzom Ring is in the works, they are focused on it and will be released (hopefully) during q2 2006. It will rock and will streamline content. It will be the next big thing in MMRPGs since sliced bread.

* In her column, Ms. Mulligan only implied that consensual PvP is not bad.

* PvE content is coming, see? we listen to players and react! when? soon (tm) and NEW the Ryzom Ring gives us the opportunity to get the players more directly involved in that PvE content. What a nice dependency ! the PvE content we decided to work on kinda/somewhat requires the Ring to fulfill playerbase expectations and improve players experience, given the new possibilities for content delivery and streamlining.

* Ryzom ring is awesome

* We listen to players.

Well, those are the points I highlighted. Talking to a friend, we joked about the exercise of identifying these items actually before reading the interview I bet that list would not be very different

I did not read between the lines the following things (you shouldn't either)
- Ryzom is nowhere near that 100000 player figure.

- Ryzom ring really really really needs to work and become a source of income

- The promise of PvE content was made in a executive letter several months ago, as a damage control measure. Not a single mention of what it could be -- just not to spoil the surprise -- nor when, because a) giving dates is complicated and there are too many factors involved b) we listen and react to what players want and c) developing a MMRPG is a complex project, and now that we installed state-of-art testing and QA, new game features are very robust. The bugs that you may see after a patch are ust Schrodinger sideeffects that could not be reproduced "in house" with "white hands" because of the existing differences and conditions both in a test environment and the live servers.

- The drawback of the well proved "focus on a single task" project management approach is that we only have one strike team now. I would not hold my breath waiting for notable additions before the release of Ryzom Ring.

- One can hope that the "official" content released by Nevrax using the Ryzom Ring goes far beyond the "instanced quests". That said, even instanced quests are a welcome addition !

humorously,
Ani

ps: to keep things balanced, I'll be praising Nevrax work soon, honest !

"Some of you really don’t like any scenario where PvP plays any part, period, end of story. At the same time, many of you have expressed a preference to keep exploring the nature of the Kitin (...) Based on that feedback, we’ve already started working on new Kitin PvE scenarios for you. We’re putting a major effort into it and we expect it to take up much of the available Live Team work cycles until then." -- November 8, 2005.

*hugs kindle and doesnt wanna let go* i miss you - we all do, and those very points are the ones i'm trying now to solve - i know im just a young fyros warrior -and we're often overlooked, but i'm still going to try my best to make things work out. hopefully then we can get all of you that have left to come back and re-inforce the community we have wanted but not worked towards.

take care Kindle, in whatever you choose
