Ryzom moves on - so will I, Goodbye all.

Hi all,

Okay so due to the recent changes when one cannot get any more xp on free, I am quitting.

I started playing this game 3 months ago, on and off. I don't play it often so thought I would stay on free to just chill and help others. It being a Sandbox game, I thought this would be okay.

So I stayed here, initially made 'InvincibleAjay', then 'Invincible', then 'Ajay' (for those who might have seen me in arispostle and cho). When I got to 3rd character, I was still learning the game but thought I have sound enough knowledge now to be a valueable member here and help the Ryzom community. After all, what is knowledge if it isn't shared.

I began to learn the skills, so I could craft armour to help all new players in the game. By doing this, I would help them appreciate the game better and they can experiment more whilst on free. At the time also some players were ripping off the new players and I thought this was grossly unfair. So I set my mission to break their greed and and help all I could. As a player, I also took the responsibility to have fun and make sure others were too, so if someone was in need, I would help them and so on.

I met some great friends here, I wish to thank them all for their support and encouragement. GM's/guides like Dever, Sengosha and others were also very helpful and offered words of encouragement, which again I would like to thank. I would also like to thank the members here whom helped me when I was a newbie, shame I won't be around to do the same for others.

I understand some of Ryzoms reasons for doing what they have done, but I don't agree that a cap of 21 is justified. A cap or 40 or 50 is more reasonable. Plus i was only playing here to help others. What it the point of me being here when i cannot get the xp to buy the plans so I can make more armour and items for people to use??

Sometimes, you just have to agree to disagree and move on. Ryzom has moved on and so will I. Its a sad day, because I don't feel I was given the opportunity to help like I first thought possible. However on the flip side, it lets me concentrate on my other projects.

Take care all and be well.

Kindest regards,

-Ajay-

So you have been freeloading for 3 months and are now angry that you can't get xp, so you are quitting?

You are the very reason why they made changes. You claim you simply want to help people, you don't need xp to do that.

All I can say is BYE!

take care, and i say this without any malice at all, this is why they are making changes.

It's a free trial, not a free game. The trial exists for ppl to try out Ryzom, see if they like it then play, not to hang around for months (even they have reasons as noble as yours).

not a flame, just an opinion.

So why not cough up the fee and carry on? No limit then.

While some of the residents of Silan will move on due to a change in the policy towards free trials, I am pleased that my subscription fees will go towards marketing, development, and support of paying content more than supporting other people's free play.

No disrespect intended, and good luck in your endeavors.

I agree-if you want to help, then help. You don't need to be level 50 or 60 or whatever to answer questions, show people around, etc.

It costs money to provide the free trial, and the more people that begin to just hang out for free without ever going to the mainland, the more of a money sink it becomes.

It will also make it easier to come to the mainland at a lower level I hope. As it is, if you come before level 50, it's very hard to find anyone to group with since everyone is significantly above you. Now, perhaps, as people are encouraged to come over at lower levels, the areas around Yrk and the other starting cities will actually get to see groups of level 20s, 30s and 40s form.

Re: Ryzom moves on - so will I, Goodbye all.

I wanted to assist all the starving children in the world, But my local store would not donate the necessary food, then the airport insisted I pay for any packages I transport...on top of that the distribution centre I had envisioned had to be leased from the owners, and the staff there were willing to work without pay, but the heating/lighting/trucks/fuel.....wow..the list is endless.
Because of all this I cannot help these poor kids......I wonder if I have to pay my own airfare to collect my nobel prize ?

I have read some dumb posts in my time....if you want to assist somebody OP...try using your own resources ?? (Ie ...PAY THE MAN!!!)......just a thought,
