Re: CS Chat on Wed 20
History was a subject I paid little attention to in school.....In my infinate wisdom as a teenager I knew that King Henry had several wives, we even learned a little rhyme to keep track of their fate....lived, survived, died....etc.
Of course I memorized this and managed an acceptable result in my exam results.....of course it's purpose now served I discarded this information and concentrated on the real issues of wehat motorcycle to purchase (Yamaha RD250, for the curious). Over time I myself travelled my own path as the rebel, free thinking, and unique individual we all see ourselves as.....which led me to become the regular mortgage paying hard working stress enduring house maintaining family orientated individual I am today. But, more surprisingly (mostly to myself) I have taken an interest in world events which I have discovered...actually effect me !!!. Of course much of the world disagreements made no sense to me...so I set about educating myself (I can still visualise the teachers look of dispair when they saw I was more interested in the window than Idi Amin's regime), and what has this self education shown me ?.......in summary Power corrupts, Absolute power ....... I see it in news events, political agendas, and I can now recall the school monitors even inviting their friends into the corridor during recess (the holy grail of cool places at my school).... We can even regress further to evolution and observe that homo sapiens were not physically strong or fast, there it was also necessary to manipulate our environement to survive, much to the dismay of many a mammoth family It seems. It is fact that complying with restrictions is not a human strength, For those that believe we can rely on people acting without bias I salute you. For you are at the start of a learning process that will ultimately lead you to this reality.....It seems odd I have become the teacher of history ![]() |
