As an old player having cats brought in years after i had been playing i find that unfair. Old players spent years doing twice the work to get the same lvls as people with cats do now. I had 6 * lvl 250 before the old land events which was the first taste of cats, cats in the quantity they are ingame now is just not doing the game any favours, owning an outpost spending maybe 2 hours per month defend an outpost that produces 16 stacks a day is not earning them. Cats for honor points in the old land is okay imo, as a reward for outposts however is not. |

Nothing can be used until introduced, unless you remove something that already exists it's not a deficit. Since their implementation everyone had an equal chance to attain cats, the means of obtaining them are not always easy. Many of us had several masters prior to cats coming into the game (and yes, some cried foul), having this feature didn't take away anything since this is a classless game. One master (or several) does not make you a Jedi, there is always at least an equal to you somewhere (+/- gear). Cats mostly aid in being more well rounded, because your second master in melee doesn't add anything but (ie.) weapons choice. Twinking around with cats will not disguise the lack of added content, whether it be endgame or otherwise. Quote:

Ok, I hadn't heard of those other items. None of them were seasonal were they? Because seasonal items of course aren't daily perks. Thanks for the welcome ![]() I didn't know that they weren't always around. I can see what you mean that the original players pre-implementation didn't get to use them. That can't be changed though, only the future. It's the people in the middle that have had it good huh. Not new, not old. If the mechanics of them aren't the concern but the way that players are getting them being the issue. How about this, if they get removed can they get removed in about 6 mos. once some of us get a chance to profit from the mechanics portion until they learn of the other side lol |

I have no problem with cats ingame....just the current amount, With a larger playerbase they will become 'less frequently' used by the playerbase....Maybe GF just match the production of them to the current playerbase numbers ?. |

Re: cats vote
Wow, such enthusiasm, from both sides. I like it. I will have to say that without cats, many of the people who have attained "master" status in the last year or so would still be only halfway to their goal without them. Taking them away now would be a mistake in my opinion. I have leveled with them and without them, and must admit that without them, I would have grown frustrated back when my highest skill was less than 50, and a stray yubo would kill me. If the higher level players really want to get back to the "real" game, then remove all cats above level 150, make those last 100 levels to master title a relentless chore they will wear out 50 or so picks on, "x" number of swords, axes, pikes, etc. (catch my drift here?). Without a way to stay alive and feel useful to the community (i.e. healing in groups, helping noobs, participating in OP's, crafting useable items - not just junk to sell, etc), how long do you think new players will stay around? For those who say cats have taken the fun out of the game, I say it has helped me since I have been able to do more things solo and go exploring by myself when I used to need a "baby sitter" to keep me alive. Again, if we are going to remove cats, take them away from the ones who can handle Atys solo, not the new people.
Off topic a bit here, but I would like to go explore PR in Almati Wood. Getting that area opened up would be a worthwhile effort. Enjoy the hunt, and don't forget to have fun! p.s. If this is truly looking to be a worldwide vote, then we need to put a message in to the welcome message upon log-in. I mean, the majority of the Forum readers are the older players, so we are really hearing a lopsided account here. Just my opinion. |

Hmm, is this a single player game? I always thought this was a massive multiplayergame, teamup and have fun. In the days before cats got introduced, we teamed up in big teams hunting and having fun. Not alone or with one healer on easy mobs with 2 times xp. I voted for remove cats, they are not healthy for a homin. Yes i used cats for some of my masters, but they also took my goals away. Thats why most of us in Evo decided not to use them, we didnt even try to defend our OP. The masters i did before the cats is the ones im still most proud of. Hard work should make you proud, they should make it even harder to reach a master skill in my opinion. Concerning OPs, bring 2 more drills and more new plans and OP related crafts. That is also something to fight for. And when im at it, add a monthly fee to own an OP, maybe 100mill dappers, a good dapperzink, isnt it? And another thing about PvP, we had some good PvP guilds before the OPs got introduced, guess what, most of them quit game cause of it. I find that a bit strange. |

[quote=putterix]Hmm, is this a single player game?
I always thought this was a massive multiplayergame, teamup and have fun. In the days before cats got introduced, we teamed up in big teams hunting and having fun. Not alone or with one healer on easy mobs with 2 times xp. I do team up, with lots of different people, races and across factions. 98% of my time on Atys is in a team, or at least chatting while digging. People have talked about goals and being proud of achievements, haven't you ever wanted to see if you could make it by yourself to, say, Heretics Hovel from Knoll of Dissent? I agree this is a team game, but sometimes it is difficult to find someone who has made a partcular trek a hundred or more times and will take a break from what they are doing. Many times I go exploring on my own not by choice, but because no one can or will go. This is a great game and I enjoy it more each day. I know this thread is about cats, so I will end her. Just wanted to clarify. |

Re: cats vote
How about more drill settings ? I wouldn't mind settings for Level Based Grind Mats. That is say you have a 250 OP you gotta grind ya first master in a skill the ole fashioned way. So say you do jewels and you have a 250 OP. Drill could be set to dig 250 grind mats which can be used by any jewel crafter who has a master in at least one jewel tree. If you have a 200 OP, then you'd need at least one 200 jool skill to be able to use the 200 QL mats. Seems it would open more trading possibilities.
Of course I don't like this idea also as it would encourage guilds owning more than one OP and I would think output would have to be somewhat limited by member activity. Probably not the best way to implement it but there is nothing more dreary than endless no XP digging to bring the secondary skills in the skill tree up after you have already mastered one in a group. Hmmm idea for new thread. |

Re: cats vote
I took a few days off from the forums. Ran out of anti-negativity energy. But I'm back
![]() (Warning: Rambling stream of consciousness ahead, internal consistency is probably going to fail) I took the cats out of the game.. Yup, that's right, in my world they no longer exist. no fuss, no muss, no whining at devs. Cat? What's that? Never heard of em. If/when I get my first master, it will be largely without the things, and if I could change history I would never have used them at all. So there ya go. You want em gone? POOF they're gone. oh wait, what's that you say about other people using them? pfffft, who cares. Do your own thing. Don't stress on what others do. Maybe, MAYBE, if you do the PvP tango, some of those "users" will win for a while. Guess what? Once they hit 250 they are STUCK. When you get there they will not have any advantage for having been there first. They sure won't have any advantage over those who got there years ago. So play the way you want to. What's that you say about people who "use" getting all the OPs because they can grind up a bunch of mindless warriors? OK, maybe they will. So what? They take OPs so they can take OPs? if cats don't exist in your world, OPs don't much matter, do they? OK, the mats are nice. I have a groovy OP mat axe. Not giving it up til it's worn out, either. So they have some use. Just remember, if the "ain't got no cats blues" is getting you down, stop and look at the sky for a minute. Remember why you are doing this. If max powerleveling is your cup of tea, hey, I'll not stand in your way. But for me, I'm happier like I am now. I have no idea what I just said, I hope nobody gets all pissed off at me. |
