Screenshots thread - Beware large images!

Hello guys

I decided to check my Ryzom screenshots, and found quite a few oldies containing some familiar names and faces I also had 2 beta screenies hiding away, and they both bring back great memories Also, I didn't want to pollute the Pictures thread with too many screenies... Apologies to any dial-up users who ignored the thread title - you could be in for a short wait

Have a really good look at the screens with lots of Homins - you'll see some familiar names there, both past and present The mix of civilisation and faction shown makes this Homin more than a little nostalgic Except for the first two, the images are all from mid 05 - April I would say (don't have the original date on the files anymore).

Sorry they aren't imageshack links, but I enjoy spamming threads with big piccies muhahahahahaha...etc... Please feel free to post any comments and your own screenshots

Enjoy

Disclaimer: I have indeed edited my config file for a higher zoom value - however, since my one and only request for support was due to the fact that I TPd to Dyron with full bulk (blonde moment) I do not fear the consequences Makes for some damn good screen shots if nothing else

Open Beta - The Atysian Sentience crew

Open Beta - The Atysian Sentience crew

Well, this is one of my most treasured screens and Ryzom memories This was from mid Open Beta 1 - my hazy memory would guess at April 04, or around there. A fantastic bunch for sure, although not many made it through to release Some didn't stay for long at all, which is why I sadly can't name everyone in the pic...

From L to R: ?, Me , Sumanaptra (our leader), ?, Twitches (then Wrinkles), Jansethi, Paccea, Anubis, Lylzor, ?, ?

We lost Sumanaptra to EQ2 after "patch 1", Paccea to WoW around the same time, Ryo soon afterwards Eventually I would follow, leaving only Twitches - who has now left for RF Online *sigh*

A trek from Fairhaven to Yrkanis

A trek from Fairhaven to Yrkanis

This kind of event brings the best memories of Ryzom - organised by the tiny cuteness that is Zella, and her fantastic guild The trek was a success, although we lost a fair number of Homins along the way

This first shot is the mob gathering in Fairhaven :

And this is in the Lagoons of Loria :

And finally, a shot from the Matis Maze :

I can see my house from here!

I can see my house from here!

Oh actually, that's not my house... where are we again? This appears to be somewhere in the Witherings, I don't remember where though - possibly Void. It's a boring shot, and I had to compress it to hell to make the filesize sensible. Still, the reason I took this shot was because of the camp and Arma herd in the distance. With view distances set to full, Ryzom really is an amazing engine. The combination of distance, detail and performace makes most MMO engines look more than a little embarrased The next gen will surpass it for sure (and already is doing), but Ryzom held up against pretty much all competition until fairly recently. And what the new MMOs have in quality and sharpness, Ryzom makes up for in style and meaningful detail And still most MMOs used tried and tested art styles - Ryzom stands with a very select crowd in that respect. I don't mind 'Orcs and stuff', but I find it possible to look at mobs like the Kipucka, and still be impressed by what I see after all this time

Re: Screenshots thread - Beware large images!

I have a few. They aren't from any beta because I didn't find out about Ryzom till right after release (thank you for the introduction Trindle).

In this image, a bunch of people (mostly ones I knew) decided to invade Tunnel of Woe. It didn't end so well.

I made a suicide run into the Kami camp during Episode 2 because I wanted to see what it looked like. This was the only screenshot I had a chance to take.

One of the last things I did with the Reapers of the Dark before our fall out. I had fun, and found one of the most beautiful places in the Matisian lands.

Re: Screenshots thread - Beware large images!

You're liking the pink eh?

They should really change the appearance of Virginia Falls on the main map - it looks, for all intents and purposes, like a dried-up giant wormhole in the desert I havent' been to the spot you were stood in - that's a fantastic view, and I must get myself over there for a screenie Based on the map itself (and even with the Falls' title on there), I would never have expected such scenery in the middle of that dry, unfriendly area

Re: Screenshots thread - Beware large images!

It is like the Oasis places in real deserts I guess. I like it all the same. If I were to ever get married in game, that'd be the place.

Re: Screenshots thread - Beware large images!

For some nice views on that special place, watch the Videos "Verdant Hights" and "Milla & Ashur" (Wedding Video).
They´re compressed in rar format. Download Win-rar .

Re: Screenshots thread - Beware large images!

A few people of opposing faction decided to get together and have a fun time with pvp. At one point we had a boxing match, naked-of course!
