PvP Etiquette Question(s)

Greetings all,

As someone who is preparing to (as soon as I get the faction rating up enough) declare a faction, I am interested to see what the commonly accepted PvP practices are on Arispotle. I am interested in the "legal" actions, as well as what is considered acceptable by participants.

Any information would be greatly appreciated, and while debate about the issue is welcome, please play nice. I know this can be a hotbutton issue.

Thanks in advance!

Re: PvP Etiquette Question

In none pvp area's if you have your flag on your open game which is fair. As for guild v guild area's etc well most people should leave you alone if you've done nothing to deserve it.

Any tactic is valid really but luring on people unprepared for it like diggers I'd say is frowned upon.

But times begin to change...

Re: PvP Etiquette Question

It not only can be a hotbutton issue - it will be.
And it's simple, really.. The proponents will argue that any kill is legal, because someone either flagged or entered a specific region, thus they accepted their fate in advance. The negators will deny ethics in attacking harvesters, crafters or afk'ers (which they are morally right in denying...). And the issue of hot-flagging will be adressed lateron, again.
And verbal PvP will commence. Again.

*grabs some snacks, a drink and a gardenchair and settles to watch*

yup - as above.

Only real exception I guess is PR when supernodes pop, when I guess tensions are high, and there's the potential for things to turn nasty

Re: PvP Etiquette Question

Ok, so flagged players are generally considered open season for opposing faction... does this include diggers in non-forced pvp areas who keep their tags up? Not that I am looking to go kill the working man, just curious for the sake of the knowledge.

Additionally... what about raiding a capital for an opposing faction's race? For example, the recent Yrkanis raid... is that considered safe haven, or does it go back to the "If you have your tag up, you're requesting PvP" mentality?

Re: PvP Etiquette Question

yeah if your a digger or anyone with your flag on it means you want pvp, so its fair game.

And well there was a time in some area's guilds respected each other and showed some ethics in gvg area's which was one reason I respect the community here so much. But these days it seems kami and kara etc get more childish by the day sometimes I miss being neutral and above it all lol.

Well towns are safe unless you have your flag on so open season applies, although killing someone blatantly afk is generally seen as pointless and bit below the belt. Most people with the flag on search all over to find a fight and ask in reigon etc if people want too, and are generally very polite and nicer than the people who do it in gvg area's.

Re: PvP Etiquette Question(s)

Sounds good, thank you! And I do agree that killing an AFK player is dishonorable.

Re: PvP Etiquette Question(s)

My personal take on it would be...

You enter a GvG area, you consent to the possibility of getting attacked.
You enable your Faction tag, you consent to the possibility of getting attacked.
You attack a person who consents to any of the above, you consent to the repercussions of this act to yourself and your affiliations.

However, consent doesn't mean you agree to griefing, continuous harassment that fall outside clean PvP, etc etc...
And consent doesn't mean you NEED to attack or get attacked.

True

I am asking as much to see what to expect coming at me as I am to see what I should be throwing out there.

That pretty much sums up my feelings on PvP. I see no reason to attack diggers in the GvG zones as this quite rapidly escalates into general nastiness. I've been on both sides of the situation at the supernodes and feel that pvp at the supernodes is not something that warrants complaint, nor is getting nuked in a gvg zone. Tho I refrain from those actions they're legit and part of the risk you take.

As far as tagged diggers... well if they tag up then that means they're fair game to other tagged players so again no complaints warranted.
