State of the game
I am writing this post to express my deep concern and unhappiness with the state of the game at this time. The long and the short of it is that I am not having enough fun.
1. Ryzom Ring is a huge disappointment. Where is the promise of making scenarios permanent by paying a small fee? Not to mention that when I log in the game I want to play - what I certainly do NOT want is being forced to be stuck inside the scenario in the hope that someone may decide to give it a try. Unless this thing gets fixed, and fast, I'd say the ring is a flop. And don't make me start on the bugs. 2. It is not possible to PvP at all because of the bug with getting booted from team when healing. I cannot believe that such a showstopper made it through testing. What were you guys thinking? Please fix it ASAP or revert to whatever was before - no matter what, it couldn't have been worse. 3. There is no short term gratification. I mastered a few professions, I killed at least once most of the high lvl bosses, I explored most of the landmass. I plan to master all branches of jewel crafting one year from now. Anyway... at the end of a day of playing I do not feel I achieved anything significant. We need some fluff - home decoration, new clothes, player cities, badges... something. 4. OP fight crawled to a halt. I do not know whether outposts were designed to become huge faction vs faction games or guild vs guild or anything else... the point is that the current system encourage imbalance. On some servers a faction already won, here the imbalance is not that bad yet but there's no serious source of fun either. When was the last time we had an OP war? |

Re: State of the game
1. I think it's great. I don't mind being in scenarios too much since R2 holds my interest but I agree it won't be a huge success without autoinvites and hosting. Still, even with what we have it is great IMO and as things expand possibilities will get greater. The biggest issue for me is the relative lack of items/creatures we can put in.
2. I thought this was fixed or due to faction issues? 3. If I'm feeling like I'm not making much progress I level something I don't normally do, or RP, or just hang around a populated area. I agree we need fluff though, I could see R2 easily being adapted into an apartment creator as a stripped down version. Player cities - well that's one use I've put R2 to, but more buildings would be nice ![]() 4. Agreed, they're not good. I'm hoping the reward system will put less emphasis on them and thn they can be left to the fighters really. I'd rather see some continuity, some stir in the story really. Where's Elias? Whouldn't Jena be here yet? Why are the homin leaders ignoring encroachments into their territory? |

Re: State of the game
I share most of the concerns, as stated in other (related) posts.
-------------------------------- cynism follows * In order to ease the work for argumentative posts, let me list the following items. So, rather than typing them again, just mention the number * 1) Don't grind. There is plenty of things to do, RP or count the spots in a varynx skin. 2) Don't grind. I've been playing since release and my highest level is 14. I can play 7h a days and I always find something to do. Look, "let me see how many bugs are flying around the lamp near the temple". I rock so much by not being a powerleveler that I feel like hugging myself. 3) R2 will also allow devs to create content. Just wait.... wait a bit more... almost there 4) There are plenty of events. You go out on weekends? that's too bad, you should consider stop going outside. 5) The landscape is great. It hasn't changed that much, but it's great 6) It's a small company with a small budget. 7) The kitin nest is coming soon. And there is something "surprise surprise" that was hinted during the IRL meeting. - |

Re: State of the game
Goupi, like myself otherwise, is not a classical grinder, he doesn't like grinding in itself that much but he does grind because he sees having the levels as the pre requisite to start crafting.
You may agree with this position or not, but some people will always like that. Anyway apart from grinding he put a lot of hope in the Ring and started to make scenarios and learn the way its done. He doesn't compalin about the bugs in Ring. We all understand it cannot be perfect. But not being able to let the scenario work without you is an issue that could burry the whole project. Imagine how proud could be a player who made such a great scenario that to be visited daily by hundreds of players. But don't expect him to stay there and do nothign while these hundreds of players come and do that scenario, it's unreasonable. Very different seems the pvp state. While OPs are a can of worms with no use to open here, open pvp life is just starting at least on Arispotle. We had some raids in Yrkan and OoTN returned the visit in Dyron (thank you, guys please come back ![]() Factional chat is still bugged. I've spammed the GC with piles of dots and other ... interjections to be able to say somethign on factional chat. Factional chat still works only if you're overt. So if Dyron or Yrkan is raied I cannot ask for help in my faction unless I tell everybody in particular. Heal anybody outside your team and you get kicked of team, be it by single spell or via a bomb. It's killing the fun, belive me. You don't want to lose a fight because of a bug, you don't want to make macros to reinvite every minute 5 people back to your team. Flags up in pvp are not always visible. Some of the players still saw me as not flagged after 10-15 minutes while I was fully flagged. Pvp is a perpetuum mobile in a MMO. It entices players to advance, hunters to get best loot, crafters to make top gear, guilds to recruit and form people, good part of RP has roots in pvp as well. There is no mob or AI you can design with same complexity as real players. Just polish the rusty mechanics of this sort of skill challenge - it's not even a lot of bugs, just some very annoying ones - and we'll have a lot of fun for a very very long time. |

Re: State of the game
I second this, or atleast i would if i had been beaten to it. You get the idea.
There are lots and lots of niggly bugs that need addressing as theyve been ignored for so so long. And sure, give us some fluff. |
