Question Back in Atys, and somewhat confused

Hi all,

I stopped playing Ryzom nearly a year ago, and just got a mail to reactivate my account for two weeks so I thought I would and see what's changed and whether or not to re-subscribe.

Trouble is, I now have no idea what's going on. To save me trawling through the forums etc, anyone fancy giving me a quick rundown on what's changed and why I don't seem to be able to buy TP tickets anymore?

Cheers :-)

PS - I notice some things will never change, after reading through a few threads here...

PPS - logging in after a year and finding myself in PR was something of a shock let me tell you :-)

Quick answer is TP's are now tied into faction allegence and your lvl of fame with them, ie for a Kara tp in a 250 PR region you need to have declared allegiance to the Karavan and have a minimum of 60 fame points with them.

Nuetrals get a mixture but no PR.

I am sure some kind more Knowledgable homin can expand on this or post the links.

And welcome back

You will be Undetermined, you can't get any tps till you choose...

Neutral - Limited TPs
Faction - Faction only TPs with fame restrictions

Welcome back btw.

Re: Back in Atys, and somewhat confused

Try checking this thread out for the fame changes. Since you're a pre-existing character you can either open up your fame window and hit "Go Neutral" to start being able to gain/lose fame and get access to the neutral TPs, or you can find your way to a temple and align to a faction to get access to that faction's TPs, then rebuy any that you used along the way

Hitting "Go Neutral" in Cult or Race will reduce any fames that are above 50 and reduce them to a max of 50, joining a faction/cult will reduce the opposing one to 0, joining a race will reduce them to various values depending which race you align to.

Oh and welcome back, I remember you from the forums

Aha, most useful. Thanks for the responses - I was almost afraid to leave Yrk as I only had one TP ticket and I used that punching out of PR.

I saw the "undetermined" in my fame window, but thought it best to check it out a little further before pressing buttons

I'll check out that thread you mentioned also.

So, what's this "Spires" thing I've seen mention of?

The Ryzom equivalent of opening a second battle front in Russia, in the winter.

Seriously though, its been pushed back but it was meant to be a territorial PvP overlay, or a 'bad idea' as it is otherwise known, hence the pushback and rethink.

Re: Back in Atys, and somewhat confused

The thread that Sprite mentioned was most useful, so thanks for that.

One thing that concerns me slightly is this apparent leaning towards PvP. I have to say I'm not into PvP at all (although the naked boxing matches from times past were fun).

Is PvP on the increase? That's a big turn off for me if it is.

The main problem I have right now however is remembering what all my actions were for, and how to play the game. Apologies to the Yubo lovers, but I need to hone my very rusty combat skills somewhere

Re: Back in Atys, and somewhat confused

PvP remains by and large generally avoidable and a matter of choice, if you insist on going to one of the PR regions(Nexus) where its enabled then you must except that its your choice to go there and except whatever may or more often, may not happen.

Mats available in PvP PR regions are available elsewhere aswell so still nothing is forced.

If you declare for a Faction you dont have to turn your PvP faction tag on, thats down to personal choice aswell.

Edit: On the increase I dunno, with the Faction tag and Outposts yes there is a little more than there was but "see above". If you have been trawling the forums you may get the wrong impression, errrm "empty vessels make most noise" *Ducks*

Re: Back in Atys, and somewhat confused

Hmm, if you are all out against pvp then you certainly must have a huge issue competeing against real people, AI is well and good, but wouldn't you rather test your skill against something with an intelligence greater than a 3 year old?

I am an old school UO player and just recently came to Ryzom, hoping to find the freedom, roleplay, and skill based advancement that I enjoyd from classic UO, but more importantly I came to Ryzom to base it off it's own merits, not what I think it SHOULD be compared to some long dead game that I have nostalgiec(sp) feelings about, and I must say, the creativity and beauty that I see is un-matched thus far.

But what concerns me the most is the xenophopic attitude the majority of the community seems to have towards PvP, if you have not felt the rush of running down the road and seeing a player, and then having to decide wether that player is hostile or firend, can I talk them into being nice or will they attack, can I take them? This feeling is un-matched, and no amount of stupid AI will ever grant that, this is the reason I play Online games, if I wanted to roleplay nicely with my friends I would get some good Face to Face D&D time in.

I come online however in order to enjoy the mystery of new poeple, there is no mystery in wondering if some guy will heal you well enough, but there is mystery when you have to wonder wether they will try to attack you, or win if you try to attack them, please do not ruin this extremely important if not vital function of online gaming by depriving yourself from it due to a few bad experiences in past games.
