2nd time this game has failed me...
i played this game 2 years ago and it was boring slow...kill farm blah blah blah....no content!!
Now im back to give the game 1 more try hoping and praying its ben fixed, i download the game i log in i go in game and what do i find my self in... A game that is so unfriendly for noobs that its sad. First thing im told to do is talk to some guy, but i cant find him... I'm placed in a city with 300 npcs and nothign to guide me to this guy. After looking for 3 hour i finally find him!! and have to hear him tell me some long story about nothing!! "wow" that was a waist of time! 2nd i think ok well ill go kill something and get some exp.. I walk out of the city, see a bird i fire at it with my magic oversized gloves and it 2 hits me dead.... THIS IS THE NOOB ZONE PEOPLE!!!! do we not have noob mobs to kill so we can level ???? Now i think ok well this sucks ill go try and farm!! so i walk around till i see some slime buble crap on the ground. I go to harvest it and some message flashes on my screen that im now pvp..umm wtf all i did was walk over to Harvest something!!! Nexed thing i know im dead by some jurk who is hi level and thinks its funny to kill noobs..Who in thair right mind would put a PVP zone right ontop of a noob zone! So that noobs could walk into the zone and die witohut knowing it!! WE ARE NOOBS!!! Are you developers realy this clueless? So now i find my self thinking why did i even give this game a 2nd try. I't ben a bad experiance from the start! I'm sure ill get flamed for this, if every noob has this bad experiance from the start of this game, no wonder this game just cant get the life it should have. FIX THE GAME!!! and you will keep player, It a shame becase this game could be so much! |

Re: 2nd time this game has failed me...
Mmmm I am surprised...
I didnt try the new starter isle a lot when it became part of the game, but what I tried gave me the impression it is very new player friendly, and as far as I know there is only a small territory PvP on the starter isle. (And i guess like all pvp areas it gives a warning some time that you are entering it...) But ofcourse, I can be very wrong about this all... |

I've been playing it for two years and not felt short of content. Perhaps our definitions differ. What do you consider content? Quote:
You say you played two years ago? You remember the old refugee areas? Yeah... that was unfriendly to new players. Silan is a vast improvement over the old refugee areas I'm sure you'll agree. Did you think to ask any of the people running around the refugee island (the players) where this NPC was? Did you read the mission guy's description of where to find the person or their name? Did you check your map to see if it had been marked with where to find them? Oh, and that long story about 'nothing' to a lot of people that would be content, lore, tutorialising, familiarising people with the world. Quote:
Perhaps you should start on something a little smaller then? Like the low star-rating yubos? Quote:
You do have low level mobs for starting levels. You also have intermediate and high level mobs for the starting levels. This would be part of the involving learning process of joining the game. If you wandered into a PvP zone then that would be the arena, which is there to allow people to get a feel for the PvP in Ryzom. There will always be jerks on free trials... *meaningful pause* ...and it isn't representative of the mainland. Personally I agree, the free-trial environment is going to be jerk heavy and I think duels are enough but, unfortunately, I'm not in charge. From what I can see from your post RoS is performing its task admirably. Ryzom takes a bit more effort and patience then you're willing to put in it seems. Cool, bully for you, some games aren't for everyone I hope you find something that better suits you but giving up first try hardly gives you a decent feel for things. |

Re: 2nd time this game has failed me...
I had a pretty good experience on the starter isle, enjoyed playing it. Didn't seem to have much trouble at all. Of course, when I ran into any difficulty, I simply asked someone for assistance, and didn't have any trouble finding assistance from other players.
Sorry to hear that you had so much trouble. Surprised to hear it to! ![]() |

hmmm, 3 hours to find a guy you were facing when you first entered the game; I'd say that's pretty awsome. You are right this isn't the game for you, try something simple like tic tac toe... |

The starter isle is one of the better new player area's I've seen in any game and I can promise you I've played more mmorpgs than most people have had hot dinners.

The game does not need fixing. Ruins of Silan (the new player experience) is easy enough as it is. If it is made any easier, I fear people like you would actually stay and keep polluting the rest of us with your idiotic demands. Bye-bye.

Re: 2nd time this game has failed me...
I just started a few days ago, and I am also surprised you are having trouble. Granted I did die (and still do) to a few mobs until I figured how to check it's level. The only PvP area is the arena and you get a 2 minute warning that you will be marked PVP. Also I had found most of the NPC's they tell you to talk to are standing just a few feet away from the person that told you to talk to them. I guess things must have been much different 2 years ago, because I find Newb Isle to be pretty easy to navigate.

Based on your rant, and the responses that follow, I'd say YOU failed the game.
As someone said, perhaps tic-tac-toe is more your speed. |

I'm not sure how you could walk into the PvP zone and be oblivious to the great big yellow letters when you walk in (even a warning every few seconds counting down time? forget)... as soon as I walked in the first time I ran out because I worried about being griefed... though in my stay on the island I never actually saw people in it. I just left the island a month or two ago, and I could not have had a more different experience than yours. Sure it was a little confusing at first, but every new world is. I thought the devs did a great job in creating a tutorial island. A few bugs (counters not counting, etc.), but overall very good. |
