I honestly fail to see the need to implement RL religious, national and/or commercially hyped holidays, disguised to amply fit the gameworld one way or another, just like that other game. I'm not gonna start on politically correctness on an international shard as that's whole other can of worms; I hope others won't either lest this gets ugly.

What I rather would have seen are ingame festivities and celebrations that are really relevant to the gameworld; something as the Festival of Light in Jena's name which is hosted and planned by players. I'm pretty sure there's more examples on which to expand on, things to comemorate: the Fire of Corriolis; the Exodus; the Treaty of Four People, the Force of Fraternity, Jena's Commandments, ...

So many opportunities to make the world more lively, so many opportunities missed ...

Anyways, loving the pumpkin idea Kibs.

Re: Slaughter Week?

I could see this being quite good actually, and while "yes" it may be incorrect for some people who don't believe in halloween, the designers may just be attempting to spice up the game a bit and have some fun.

So yes I understand, no I don't think it is supposed to be viewed as incorrect but more as a "fun" adventure.

Re: Slaughter Week?

I'll have to agree with Kyerna.
What was the relation of this happening to Atys again? .... I see...

Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to new events and IG happenings, even more as it sounds like it's gonna be some sort of ongoing event, lasting more than a few hours and -for once again!- not starting at exactly that time of day I can't be InGame (making me miss almost all events...). But I don't see anything in relation to Atys or its lore and I only hope that they make the turn and fit it well enough into it.
If they don't fit it well enough, maybe there's some small blizzards appearing in desert regions in spring and summer, then? Just to paint a small picture of convergence
However, I'll (try to) be there and have my fun.

Re: Slaughter Week?

Allright, you´re right that per say something like that does not have to do anything with Atys on a quasi-religious basis.
But, as with all Seasons-Events in the past:
IT´s JUST FUN!!!
IT´s JUST a GAME!!!

So please don´t get started about it making sense or not.
It´s just a week of something different.
Nothing to rant about or get angry about.
Just something to have a whee bit of different fun with our game.

So shut the **** up and enjoy yourself!!!

Re: Slaughter Week?

Oh, this sounds like such fun!!!

Halloween has alway been my favorite "holiday." I'm thinking maybe they will dress the Yubo's up like Ninja! Giant Jack-O-Laterns in the capitals (like they did the trees at Christmas last year). Maybe we'll see a skeleton or ghost! Oh, I'm sooo excited. I might get on my main avi for more than a few hours now!!!

And, since I'm not much on RP, I could care less about it's significance to Atys (just my little opinion).
