![]() Hey there,
I've been playing Ryzom for a few special days and i must say, i'm completly loving it! The only thing im haveing issues with is the graphics, and how they take their toll on my computer. To be able to play Ryzom, i have to configure Ryzom, this means i have all the sliders down to low. This results in most buildings being just black, and the armor on me and other characters just white, along with trees, animals, etc... This really depresses me, for I really enjoy all the wonderful pictures i see of the landscape of Atys. My specs are: Inter(R) Celeron(R) M processor 1.60 GHz / x86 Family 6 model 13 stepping 8 / Genuineintel / 159MHz / 1 Processors Found Phisical memory - 502MB Video Driver Version 4.2.5 This is taken directly from the System Information tab in the Ryzom Configuration. ( Note, i have read the Sticky on system info and what to expect, but still have this question ) My question is this: In the near future i will be upgrading my ram to 1G, so what sliders can i change so i wont see black buildings and no texture on anything? Including characters? Any information will be greatly appreciated! -Romoko |

Re: Friendly Question
have you checked http://www.ryzom.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24148 ?
i had that black texture thing also on my other computer, on this one updating the gfx drivers helped, on the other using 64M textures fixed it, lower ones still do the black thingie. As for the RAM, it will help but if your gfx card is your bottleneck it might not help as much. Also set the graphics mode manually to D3D and to OpenGL to see what works better for you. |

Re: Friendly Question
yeah, i had that error, and that is why i have to have everything at the bottom low, but it's my understanding you can't change your graphics card?

Re: Friendly Question
With more memory ryzom will run smoother but it won't be prettier (after the fixing of the black/white textures problem)

Re: Friendly Question
I'm already using the OpenGL, i haven't tried using anything else. With the graphics card, im not quite sure which one i need to change, it isn't included in the info i gave in my first post? I believe it's the Intel one.. i think it's the Intel(R) one.. i think? ( not the best with all the statistics and such... sorry )
I greatly appreciate your help -Romko |

Re: Friendly Question
The Intel part is your CPU, the brains of the oufit, so to speak.
To find out what graphics card you have...at a clean XP screen... Right click on a blank part of the screen (not an icon), select properties. Click on the settings tab. Click advanced button Click adapter tab Let us know what that says. ![]() Depending on what adapter you are using, I will probably suggest Direct3D, rather than OpenGL. For the most part it is the better choice for Windows games as it uses various parts of the Operating System to its advantage. |

Re: Friendly Question
Romoko, what Khyle so callously stated is essentially true. Actually, 128Mb RAM for an onboard chipset isn't bad. The problem comes in with system RAM. You need more. PCMagazine has some articles that show you how to add memory to a laptop.
What brand and model is it, if you don't mind me asking? |
