A Possible Third Group (Faction ?)

I'm gonna start with a quote from the "why you neutral" thread but since the quote and the answer are off topic slightly so starting new thread. The objection to a third faction, namely why should neutrals be rewarded, is one I don't understand. When a brawl breaks out in sports, the one's who don't leave the bench are the ones rewarded by not getting fined or suspended. No refernces to RL please, Ryzom is a game.

It was stated earlier in that same thread "at release", there were two factions....many of us were playing almost a year before release. And at release there was till the lore of all four races uniting against the kitin threat. And at release there was still the promise of a kitin threat and the "Ryzon Raid engine" was heavily promoted. And there was lore about factions but no implemetation. Many liked what they had for those 1st two years....and if we want to keep the game healthy, we all should want them to stay.

But I think the "reward" issue, the faction issue and the lore issue can all be addressed quite simply. As long as the kitin remain a threat, I think there is room for a third group (don't call it a faction if that word bothers you) who stand for uniting all peoples of Atys against that common threat. Factions got to build temples to their gods .... let those that follow this path build temples to the "heroes of old" who once united Atys. Let them build centers of learning ....let them build outposts to face and guard against the kitin threat inspired by various heroes of old.

Tornhide Dirtdigger the famous tryker forager
Chop Suey the feared zorai swordsman
Porticus Pincushion the notorious fyros pikeman
Fluvio Go Splat the indominatable matis maceman
and so on

As factionist are dedicated to their gods, let this group be dedicated to protecting all hominkind....dedicated tot he thought of a united Atys. As factionists are rewarded by their gods, let them be rewarded by the spirits of their dead heroes. Increase the dynamic of the game by adding more unique items to the game which would stimulate trade with both factions. An OP (center of learning) dedicated to the long dead hero "Tornhide Dirtdigger" could have an altar where a pick could be placed on an altar and (via suitable donation or perhaps completion of series of missions) turned into something special. Other OP's (CoL's) could do the same for various weapons armors under the same set of groundrules as what the OP mats do....like 1/20 chance of boosted stats. Let them produce cats ... or perhaps cats only good for crafting which is associated with learning. Since these heroes were alive during the time of arrival of kami and kara gods, let's just say that these gods thanked them for their efforts in uniting hominkind by granting their supporters access to ther tp's. Again, some would have been so rewarded by the kara and some by the kami....perhaps make it simple and do it "by region".

Let these outposts be defended against kitin raids instead of PvP scenarios. Let them cost a bunch for the right to start...say 500 million. Oh heck figure out the details later.....but it is a concept that seems to encompass things many players want.... it would provide a home for the people who feel disenfrachised / disadvantaged. It would have absolutely no impact on what existing factions have....they'd lose nothing but some of the advanatges that currently factions have.

I disagree with this; instead, I say:

"Let all OP be defended against kitin raids and guilds attacks, too. This neutral group will neet to maintain theyr OP's against zealots of factions and kitin raids, and if the devs implementents a engine for random kitin raids, then, implement that mechanism foll all OPs, not only neutrals. The neutral isn't about the factions not being capable of attack you; the neutral is about archieve a status where the factions don't want attack you, and you have enough capacity and resources. But if the neutrals want OPs, they'll have to make politics and war; and in the other hadn, is fair that the factioned guilds have to maintain thir own OP agaisnt hte kittin raids.

And, totally Offtopic, but speaking of rules, I insist in put a lifespan for the materials and object, but based in time, not only in damage xD.

The powers are not just gods and religion but economic, physical and political powers with the ability to grant rewards and abilities. There is no such 3rd option of that level of power, thus no 3rd faction.

That is true.

And a "Pro-Homin" stance doesn't say anything.
You may as well belive in comfy chairs, or the thought that pie is good.
Everyone wants homins to thrive (except the Kami, who kill us :P)

Tryton (and the rangers).

But as they pointed out, they don't exactly mean a faction if that term bothers you. I think I'll find mine and Spriteh's posts on the topic from the previous thread and C&P them here if I can...

A pro-homin stance is where a lot of people were, and have since been forced from or have quite in disgust at being forced and not catered to. That was the anti-Kitin, build up the world and distrust the motivations of the factions group.

Exactly, this isn't a "third" group because its not mutually exclusive. It's pretty much every single player in the game.

Everyone believes in killing kitin. I see complete cooperation between Kamists and Karavaneers when there is a kitin invasion.

This is the two posts towards describing a third 'faction' from the other thread.

The difference is for the K/K it isn't their priority until an invasion is on their doorstep and they don't LEARN anything from working together, they go straight back at it. That would be different for a third party (like the Rangers).

In fact, that would be another alternative possibility. Rather than having a third faction, open up (with appropriate entry requirements) a load of 'secret' societies with their own benefits and drawbacks. So a homin could join the rangers (if neutral) and gain access to TPs from both sides to help counter the Kiting threat, there could be a crafting society with their own bonuses etc. Maybe you could only join one, or a limited number of these NPC guilds/groups.
