Permadeath in an event
Would you participate in an event that includes a risk of character permadeath?
Disclaimer: I'm not planning anything like this; just curious.

Re: Poll: Permadeath in an event
Depends on the risk/reward I guess... I can't imagine any specific situations where I would be up for it, but I can imagine being up for it if the situation was right (if you get what I mean)

Re: Poll: Permadeath in an event
if the Permadeath was just for the duration of that event, I would be up for it. And only if that event lasted a few hours.

Re: Permadeath in an event
Not in Ryzom, no.
But it's purely the levels that turn it into a definite 'no'. Being level 250 gives a certain amount of freedom and possibilities that a lower level character doesn't have. I don't particularly enjoy grinding, and it's only because I've been playing for 2 years that I finally got some skills up to 250. I do not want to loose that, nor grind another character all that way up. I imagine if Ryzom was a class-based game, I'd have several high-level characters by now, and I'd be more open to the idea of loosing one of them permanently. But even then I think I'd only participate if the chance was fairly low. Emotional attachment to the character and all. ![]() |

Re: Poll: Permadeath in an event
Oh, i thought you meant like a death that would only last for the duration of that event. More permanent than a respawn.
No way then. Only reason to put perma death there is if the game is dying as well and the company wants to put in one last great event or something. |

Re: Permadeath in an event
In general, yes.
A more interesting question to me is whether I'd take Jamela into a venture that I knew might be deadly, but she didn't, because I know then I would have difficulty playing as if she had no idea. If she knew the risk then it would be far more easy to reconcile, and she could be mindful of her own self-preservation. (Recommended reading : The Passion, Jeanette Winterson.) |
