Lighten Up Please :(

OK, had 5 players from another MMO coming to Ryzom, while downloading the game they perused the forum here.

They came back to me and said they wern't going to bother playing Ryzom.

They got the impression that the game is riddled with bugs, unfinished, clipping problems, Its full of hackers and botters, classes are unbalanced, the place is full of mad PvP'rs constantly at each others throats.

Not the sort of impression I would like them to have had.

Now, you can say that, if you have a tech problem, you need to air it somewhere, OK, but maybe use the tech forum instead of the general forum. I'm not trying to hide any genuine universal problems from prospective players, but I have NEVER had a problem with Ryzom over the last 2.5 years, Yes I had a MINOR annoyance after the last patch, but its sorted out now.

As regards all hackers and botters, yeah there are a few diggers afk, but its not as systemic as ANY OTHER MMO out there with gold sellers, power levellers etc.

Community at each others throats....yes unfortunately the forums give that impression, but I dont get that ingame.

So for the sake of Ryzom and its future, please moderate your thoughts before committing them to the forum, we had an awesome community here and we still have the basis of that intact, lets build on it ad try to strengthen it, instead of bickering on the forums like immature kids, if you get an urge to bicker, do it in game and not on the forums, where prospective new players have their first contact with Ryzom.

Sorry if this seems like a rant, but I'm annoyed and embarrassed, because I have lost in two weeks, 13 possible new players, and these are quality players I'm talking about, good hard grinders, as honest as the day is long, that you would kill for to get into your guilds, mature and fun to hang out with, but they are going to SotNW now, (which is a PoS of a game before you bother trying it), and kill time until one of the next gen MMO's comes out

Guessing they aint bothering to play now? Shame, i am guessing your talking about the LC lot, they are a good bunch too, a loss to the game really :/

Yup, Love, Ash and a few others downloaded it, but had mixed success running it, Timbu and the others did the forum stuff, you can check out the Warlords site where we discussed it Yaffle and see their impressions

They didn't tried because of the forum? I think they will try very few MMO then.

It's not really smart do a blind choice, imho. To judge a game you have to play it not just reading the forum. And Ryzom have a free trial.

Sorry if they are your friends, but we have not lost 13 good grinders, we have lost 13 peeps that didn't got the time to see if the game can be fun or not. Without trying it they will never know.

Hmm if it is the LC crowd their forums are alot worst imho then they are here... but they are great people and would love to see them playing here.

They did try the game, but I guess I didn't give that impression in my post and I apologise, I had mentioned it in another thread and never though to repeat it in this one.

They tried it but some couldn't get it to work on Vista, others found Silan to be annoying and too much information, they just wanted to grind and Silan would only last a few hours for them (I think its level 21 and then stop?), but the forums made them feel it wasn't the game for them.

I would argue one point with you though G, The forum is one of the first ports of call for a prospective gamer, if the forum says the game is unfinished after two years, is full of bugs, hackers and bots and the fourm is full of bickering, then why would the bother perservering with such a game, if the trial will only last a few hours in essence, for them.

Confess I have looked at some other MMO forums

and they are badly laid out, without important information where I could find it, full of immature posts and people asking questions that had already been answered on the same thread...

Ryzom is so far above them, it is painful .

btw.. how in the name of Ma-Duk does Ryzom get "unbalanced classes" ??

I have NO idea, its an impression they got from the fora, I said it wasn't true, but didn't persue it.

Understand your reasoning Val, but in all honesty - i have to agree with Gilga. if they didnt even play long enough to realize "unbalanced classes" etc - they didn't play the game. we need to voice our opinions on the forums, and quite frankly - some people ARE having lots of problems. lots of problems that never happened before certain patches of questionable usefulness..

If the forums sound "down" then its because of a true lack of effort from the powers that are in control. if we were listened to more often, this would not be a problem. we can't just pretend everything's perfect when it isnt. if ryzom is losing prospective players - GF needs to realize why, and do something about it.

damnit i'm sounding bitter again O.o...

edit :: i've looked at other MMO forums too - and ours IS by far one of the better ones. if not in 'mood' then in control (csrs and players themselves) and maturity. (among other things) i've looked through other forums for information and found almost nothing useful. just a lot of 'leet' players and the 'n00bs' digging themselves deeper and depper into their niches.
