Hello

Hi everyone!

New trial player here. A little background:
first MMO was Anarchy Online. Awesome game that was, to me at least, because of the freedom, atmosphere and community. I played that game for about 4 years.

Then I moved to WoW. Very good game also, although more because of the sheer amount of content and polished interface and gameplay than the inherent appeal of the world.

Last week I learned about the free trial, and since I remembered the game from back when I played the beta I figured "why not?". I played a little yesterday and I sort of have that feeling again that I had when I first played AO: the freedom to do whatever I want. I liked that.

I'll probably subscribe, if only to explore the world a bit. From what I remember from the beta, the game world is beautiful and very atmospheric.

So if you see a clueless guy named Tob, equipped with haphazard gear, run towards hideously dangerous wildlife, feel free to stop him .

Cheers!

(btw: is there a way to make my forum name the same as my character name instead of my account name?)

Welcome to the giant rootball, Tob

I'm afraid not, unless you know your character name in advance, when you register your account. However, this is no longer possible if I remember correctly, for rules were changed so account names need to have numbers.

Putting your character name in your sig. is common practice.

Feel free to ask around, read the guides, and enjoy Ryzom. We may meet if (once!) you subscribe and come to the mainland.

Regards,
Ani

Re: Hello

Welcome Tob

If you need any help - ask in Universal chat - everyone will be glad to help you.

We have one of the best MMOs communities here, and everyone is very helpful and friendly.

Soloing is a bit hard but possible. Your best bet is joining a guild. There are very nice guilds on both sides of the faction line with fun intelligent and helpful people. Take your time to choose wisely tho Cause given the faction conflict andall it's rather hard to "change sides"

Welcome and have fun!

Hate to say it and probably get yelled at by broshi for it but you make me sick kom

To the original poster remember to think for yourself always in the game... and just try to see things for what they truly are and remember to have a good time and enjoy your stay on atys

Re: Hello

Ok if you insist

We have a "mostly" friendly and helpful community.
Some forum posters might be too carried away by faction drama, but you will rarely see it in game.

I haven't heard what you said Biskibis
And even Ifi would, why should i care
see you across the battlefield :P

Forums don't seem a proper place to vent your frustration.

And it isnt factions... ask anyone that truly knows me i dont by into all of the faction crap and have quite a few friends on both sides of things... I just see you as a person with two faces... I know this isnt the place to say so, but sense i am not in the game much any more i thought i might as well take the chance to say it

Edit: oh one last thing... by friendly he truly means people will help you alot in hopes of influencing your game play and getting you to join them or side with them. Very few people anymore truly do things out of the goodness of their hearts anymore in atys, and usually are under suspicion by others when they do it.
