What would be the point of staying secret after they started making money with Ryzom ?

This has an impact on marketing strategies. Staying secret and making advertisement is not a good strategy.

I asked about this too, a while ago. I was wondering who "Spiderweb International Limited" (sp?) was. I got the "we are a bunch of people who care about Ryzom..." reply and little more. It was ok, but it is true that with billing, care should be taken (in general, we have no reason to be wary of SW). Now it is more a matter of curiosity.

Although they don't even have a webpage (?), Googling around you may find basic info, location, date of... but not much, they don't seem to operate other games, no previous developments (other than the rumors that there are a few ex-Nevrax employees, etc.)...

However, my main concern is the lack of roadmap and the lack of details about development. In an ideal world, I would expect a major patch when billing resumes, but unless otherwise, shouldn't they have used a beta shard if billing is to be resumed in a very near future? The only hints we have had are too vague.

Personally, I need a reason to sub, and I'll be disappointed if they just switch to "pay mode". If, after these months, it turns out that they haven't had the resources to develop something tangible (which is reasonable), it does however give a realistic indication of the timescales involved in the future, and some players may not be willing to wait that much.

Who knows? Ryzom motto, wait and see...

Without a concrete 12-18 month roadmap, I won't even look at the billing page on either of my accounts. I would recommend you do the same unless you are content with the current state of the game.

If you expect something from this phantom company you are probably going to be dissapointed. I once thought Jan or Feb would bring upon billing. Now I wonder if it even really matters. The phantom company has said little more than "Next month free as a 'gift'." for the last 3-4 months now?

Why wait when you can watch from afar? Nothing will change here if you move on. The fanbois will still be fanbois, and the game will still be without any new "content", skills, or even a lvl cap increase like some want (LoL, like there isn't enough grind in the game already). You're an idiot. Scammers are people who promise you something for money then provide you with nothing. The people behind Ryzom are ALREADY providing you/us with a service and asking to be paid for that service.

Knowing a name wouldnt make the blindest bit of difference to how much you enjoy being ingame. Ive never see "I Enjoy this game so much more now i know that my money is going to help pay Vince". Sure, everyone knew of Nev and GFF. But no one (or <1% players) knew ALL of the names of all of the employees. Thats what a company is: Employees.

Spiderweb,Winch Gate,IlikePizzaonaplate, whatever. The fact is that they are the ones who bought Ryzom and they are the ones have gievn us like 6 months of free time so i figure i already owe them £40. Maybe they can tell you who they are. Then reset your character back to 6 months ago?

When you go to a shop to buy a game, do you ALWAYS look at the name of the game you buy?
Do you leave tips at a resturant and have to know the name of every employee?
Do you buy products online and ALWAYS looks to find out the name of the manufacturer?
Would you tip a taxi driver ONLY if you knew his name?

Reasonable explanation as to why it hasnt be dsiclosed before?! Seriously what do you expect them to say?! "Hi we're Winch Gate and the reason we havent told yet is becuase knowing who the Fudge we are wouldnt make a difference to A- how well we can do our Job B- How quickly things have progressed C-You're ingame enjoyment. Infact if we had spent a long time in DEV chats, creating posts that have to be slip into three different langs and spent more time in CEB idily chatting to players so they can feel all warm at night knowing their money is paying Mike over there. Hell billing wouldnt be up for another 6 months!"

Ironicly i think when you pay someone online the name of the company appears. so i guess without paying them you wont know who they are.

If you cant be bothered to pay the price of a cinema ticket a month (1.5/2 hours) for Ryzom ( up to 744 hours) then... whatever.
