Exclamation The Atysian Subscription

Hello everyone !

We would like to get your opinion on a proposal that we are discussing at the moment.

We would like to know if a special subscription would interest some of you. We have called this subscription "The Atysian Subscription" and it would allow us to obtain additional funds for more important developments for the game. This is above all thanks to you, thanks to your desire to help Ryzom. You may have already noticed that we are doing our best to provide you with fixes, additions, and events that try to please everyone; so far we have been working without any incoming funds, imagine what we could finally do with your support !

This "special" subscription is a lifetime subscription, with the price fixed at 199 EUR, 180 GBP or 260 USD with the current exchange rates, which works out at 30% less than the cost of a monthly subscription for a period of three years. (Three years is just to give you an idea of how much of a bargain this is; we hope to last much longer than that )

Poll Question : Would a "lifetime subscription" interest you? Given that the price offers a reduction of 30% on a monthly subscription for three years, it works out at 199€, 180 GBP or 260 USD with the current exchange rates.

Re: The Atysian Subscription

You forgot the "No, because we communicate like in-laws" and "No, because I'm afraid the game might not still be here on any given tomorrow".

PS: I'm not having a dig for the fun of it, it's just how I feel. Sadly.

Re: The Atysian Subscription

To be honest, I'd prefer a donation button.

Aside from the fact that, if Ryzom lasts long enough, I'll probably spend far more than that on normal subs, and that it'd take me months to have that much spare cash; an MMO isn't a one-time large investment, it needs an ongoing income. I understand WG wanting an infusion of cash right now, especially after so long running at a loss - but if we pay £180 next month, what happens in a year's time when you have people playing, essentially, for free; with WG still needing income?

I don't object, really, to the idea, although as said I can't afford it without wrangling - but Ma'Duk, please, a donation button too.

Re: The Atysian Subscription

I voted no.

I would also suggest you open a Donation account on Paypal, if you had opened one back when the servers re-opened, as suggested, It would have generated a significant amount of revenue by now.

There are alot of people willing to pay the regular sub now, even though you havent officially started subscriptions yet, as we want Ryzom to survive.

But asking people to invest three years of subs, at once, in the current economic climate, is a big ask IMO.

Maybe if a more detailed road map for Ryzom was availabe, that opinion could change, but all we have to base our opinion on, is a patch that fixed stuff, that didnt particularly bother me personally, in the first place.

Re: The Atysian Subscription

I didn't put my vote yet.

I could vote the second choice or the last voice at same time.

A lifetime subscription could be a reasonable choice but we lack in communication too much.

There is no dev chat, no topics about the future plans of the game.
Only the event team seems communicating a bit, but it's not enough.

So, in this situation, the common feeling of the players will be "let see what's going on, day after day", so no one would choose a lifetime sub.

The fact that you have written the last choice tells me that you are aware that you are not communicating as all of us are expecting, and this is a good thing (the fact that you are aware, not the fact you are not communicating! ).

If you know it, you can fix it.

Don't misunderstand me, i know you are all working hard without any income at the moment, but i'm speaking as i was a normal player and not a true lover of Ryzom.

edit: what about adding to the subscription a special gift, such as "the Elder's dance emote"?

I assume their rationale here is that the quick infusion of cash would allow them to make investments that would hopefully attract more subscribers and make the game viable again, as I think it's safe to assume that if nothing is done, the current number of subscribers simply won't be enough to keep the game afloat for 2 more years anyways.

Mind, that doesn't exactly give us much incentive as paying customers to buy this lifetime subscription, other than "Yes, I'm willing to risk losing €200 if it helps give Ryzom a chance to survive". And if those are the people they're aiming for, then yes, a donation button would probably reach them just as well.

Re: The Atysian Subscription

So let me get this right..

A MMOG that has bankrupted 2 companies.
Current owners obviously making a loss.
No Marketing
No Dialogue with community.

You want people risk their cash with that track record, this is a joke right

Now... if you are trying to simply raise cash, why not sell some equity to the players. I may consider it then

Re: The Atysian Subscription

A lifetime sub is good idea but your timing is bad, the expectations that we'll still be here 3 years after all that's happened is too risky for such a large amount of money. There is no guarantee that I'll like the changes or ideas you may bring to the table and enjoy the game. As it is now many of us are struggling with the idea of returning. You guys are doing a good job so far but you still lack in many ways. Bringing events back isn't going to get everyone runing back to Ryzom. You need to do more than that, address other concerns (which I won't voice here because if you don't know them by now then my point is clear), and be more vocal and communicate with the community. You can't expect us to give you a 3 year's sub when we still don't even know who you are. Give us a face, stop hidding.

Re: The Atysian Subscription

3 years? In all honesty, I don't see Ryzom surviving another 3 months unless a few things change drastically.

There needs to be something new (it does not really matter what, just something!) to keep people going, else more and more players will leave. A new area to explore, a new item to craft (and maybe a difficult quest to obtain the plans), or simply a raise in level caps. Anything is better than nothing.
No, re-enabling kitin patrols and honour is not the solution. There needs to be something new.

Also, there needs to be a "vision". A plan, a concept. Some idea about what is going to happen some day. And people need to *know* that there's a vision and that something is in the works, so they don't resign.
