No libwww when doing BuildForLinuxCmake on Debian 6.0.5

Added by Nakarti about 6 years ago

I'm trying to rebuild on my new Debian install, updating the Cmake page as I go (removing the Karmic repos as they have been discontinued by Canonical is the only change I've made on it, because...)
In the current release of Debian, libwww has been removed completely. So I can't even build libwww-dev.
The nearest reference I can find is about it is about a year ago with the maintainers dictating that anybody using libwww will have to switch to libcurl because it does all the same stuff.

I don't know how difficult said switch (from libwww to libcurl) is, but is Ryzom planning such a switch? How much is dependent on libwww? (For example I'm about to have about a week with lots of otherwise idle time in the Arizona heat in which many searches and replacements might be made for a patch.)

Closest I've found looking for a port recommendation.

There is this issue : http://dev.ryzom.com/issues/1203

You can also use my libwww packages from my PPA : https://launchpad.net/~kervala/+archive/ppa

But you'll have to find out the Ubuntu version corresponding to your Debian.

Yeah I expected it would be in issues, but hadn't found it yet, thanks for the link.

"What are your vacation plans for the 4th, Nakarti?"
"Finish packing to move to the desert, and re-learning C++, you?"

If such plans go well, I'll propose to fix it. Looks like only 10k lines to review o.O

If however Server build doesn't require it, (compile in progress,) then I'll at least note that on the Cmake page and find a more public source for libwww for the Debian instructions.
