This isnt about being an ass or being arrogant, this is about a showing people that Ryzom isnt a "waste" to invest in, because its not. Ryzom could make a fortune, and yes Kalindra, it can be done without screwing the playerbase as well. Morgaine, I know multiple ways that you could take SoR into a profitable business. Just to show a few pointers: 1, There is a game convention in sweden every year that has numerous thousands of gamers, and I know that there are tons and tons of conventions in the US as well. Make a deal with the hosts that you can hand out trials at the entrance (Yes, they allow that), and make an announcement that at a specific time you will have a short intro + quiz, where 2-5 people can win a lifetime subscription. Boom, thats easily 2 000 trials handed out, which would probably convert into 100-200 subscriptions. 2, Contact the guild leaders of the largest 10 gaming communities in the world, offer them free trials for all members, and 1 lifetime sub per community, through a ingame contest say, after 3 weeks. 3, Contact TentonHammer, arrange ingame events/competitions and let them have exclusive rights in covering it on TenTonhammer.com, and in their weekly newsletter. (500 000-1 000 000 readers every week.) Then let TenTonHammer "Sponsor" at least one event with a lifetime subscription, and you would probably be sitting at another 10/15000 trials, per cover. Thats around 1000/1500 subs with the current conversation rates. Right here, you would probably get 2000-2500 subs, which would added to the current numbers sit subs around 3000, which should be just enough to "hit zero". Now, before you call me SunCe The "leet" kiddie of Atys, get your head out of your ass and realise that that performance was a role, a role that i play in the gaming world. In real life, I have to think more strategicly, and I assosiate myself only with those that are creative, polite, and bring positive things into my life. I therefor enjoy playing another role in games. That should be understandable to you. You can either keep trying to annoy me, or you can try to contribute to a constructive discussion and realise that what I really want is to help both the games community and the new owners. EDIT: Yes, I agree with you in the fact that it depends on how much you want to babysit your investment, which is why neither myself or my friends has had any interest in doing so. Because of the amount of time and work that would need to be put into it. But that doesnt make any less possible, it just makes it more work. Anyone that says that no one will put in that work is wrong, there is only one way to real success and alot of money. And thats hard work. |

I wont give it 6 months, or 12 months, because the new owners arent doing the things necesarry to create a profit so far. I dont see it changing, but its possible to do so if you know what you are doing. Morgaine, I understand that you listen to MMORPG.com's numbers over me, I probably would too. However, ive worked for 3 of the largest MMO companies in the world, and neither one of them has paid the numbers that MMORPG.com suggests. I also personally know one of the CEO's, which is why I am pretty certain about my numbers. |

Not at all, I just disagree with it.. You think arrogance is a bad thing, that makes people take you less seriously. I believe arrogance is a good personality trait, as long as its tied to your expertise, skill, and abilities. And coupled with humility, and wisdom in the areas where others best you. I know my weaknesses, where they are, and what I need to work with. I have no problems admitting to them. However, arrogance is not a thing I consider a weakness. I consider it one of my strengths. |

Re: The Atysian Subscription
Right now, Ryzom is in the infamous Catch 22 Logic dilemma.
1. Ryzom needs active subscriptions so it can fund marketing/operations/development. 2. Subscriptions are supplied by players. 3. Good marketing/operations/development attract players. Because the three items above are inter-dependent, they require each other to function. The Atysian Subscription is an attempt to jumpstart the cashflow, so they can get the above process going - but the problem is people that aren't vested in the game, will not invest in it. __________________________________ /off topic for SunCe arrogance Pronunciation: \ˈer-ə-gən(t)s, ˈa-rə-\ Function: noun Date: 14th century : an attitude of superiority manifested in an overbearing manner or in presumptuous claims or assumptions Arrogance is not to be confused with Confidence. But being arrogant would preclude one from the willingness to admit it - so I am aware you will disagree. Yet another Catch 22. |

I fully understand and agree with the definition you have on arrogance Thom. However, I believe that that having an attitude of superiority is allowed as long as you can back up your claims. If a korean black belt from the korean tigers wanted to teach me something in regards to taekwondo, I would listen, and I would understand arrogance that he might have in regards to the martial arts compared to me. Even when i have 191 victories in full contact out of 193 fights total in competition. Because odds are, he will be better then me, and I will have something to learn from him. However, if we discuss certain aspects of business or girls ( ![]() If i acted arrogant in regards to game CODING, in regards to a discussion of human worth, empathi, sympathy or any other "being humanly nice" discussion, I would have no reason to be arrogant, as most others are better then me at this. In which case id be nothing but an insecure *sshat. See my point? |

Re: The Atysian Subscription
I may reconsider my stance on this subscription option if you add something to the CoC along the lines of: "We reserve the right to ban people from the forums just for being stupid."
k thx ![]()

That would indeed be a blessing. Ok, I'm rather sick of this thread and what has done for visibility of this game. Talk about a turnoff for new players, this being the most active thread... Bah.. Please, if you're new to this game and reading this thread, do *not* judge us (players/community) or the owners/CSRs on this thread (particularly the most recent posts). Specifically, I'd like to address one particular poster. You throw around numbers and ego.. because you want a job?? You've posted a letter that your "company" sent to the Ryzom owners as an indication that they are not doing their job... but the letter you posted looked like it was written by a twelve year old. And then you touting this "company" that you own.. Ok, so if I get this straight, your "company" is supposedly legit, has been hinted to have worked with big names, is supposed to be a "Customer Service" based business with you at the head (I'm shaking my head at this in correlation with your posts) and has a site (tech company, customer service oriented) that looks like it was mocked up over 10 yrs ago by someone trying out HTML for the first time ( http://qualitygamingservices.com ).. Seriously, this thread needs to be locked and cleaned of crap. And I hope everyone understands that particular posts in the thread are well suited to be spread around a flowerbed. Sigh... - Sui |
