Impact of the fame system on Rites...

Hey guys,

I would like to have your opinion on that point.

According to this post of Xavier *(chapter 2) Alinea c) influence on fame)*
It's impossible for a Tryker like me to take some of the few available Rites.

Indeed, since it's impossible for me to get my fyros fame over 25 and most rites missions require a fame of 34 I will never be able to take, let's say, the durability rites for instance. Oh and there is obviously no way I could take any Zorai Rites either since I can't get over 0. In my opinion that is pretty bad.

So basically you would have to be Neutral (on the citizenship aspect) to be able to get those rites done.

How do you guys feel about it ?

Don't you think we should be able to get rites done regardless of our citizenship ?
Afterall there is no "land war" going on and I don't see why we should be limited on this aspect of the game.
It makes no sense regarding the lore either, does it ?

no. choices must have consequences. choosing to align yourself to civ and losing out some rites should be one of them.
edit: also, rite rewards should be tied to "can i take the rite?" check. if you cant take the rite, you should not be able to use the reward (and that should be with everything... like tp's)

lot of thing does not make sense like kami using karavan tickets or kara using kami tickets or neutral using pr tickets.

Ok but as a fame powerleveler it wouldn't take me more than a few hours to get back to neutrallity then get all land fames up to 34 take the rites then align myself back to tryker.(that s what I ll do anyway). And it s basically the same for anyone.

I just don't see the point of this Civ alignement influencing rites.

Plus in my opinion it does take away some interesting quests from players who already have so few to play with.

Oohh, there is some content for neutral too?

Ok, I make you a deal, get me my PR TP back and I will push for non citizenship-restricted rites

Anyway somehow u lucky, u dont have to grind kami to 60 buy 1k of Kami tp, then Kara to 60 buy 1k as well, then all back to 0/0 lol.. (I wouldnt do either tho)

Re: Impact of the fame system on Rites...

I have mixed views on this.
Players should be able to choose what they do in the game.
Choices should have meaningful consequences.
Diversity is good.
Balanced does not mean equal.

on the other hand

The racial rites are not equivalently balanced.. the Fyros durability rite is far more useful than the Tryker more-map-marker rites.
The ONLY effect choosing a racial citizenship has, is preventing you from doing hostile races rites.

At this point in the game development, there is nothing to b e gained from taking a racial citizenship... like choosing to be faction neutral, its a lose-lose situation.

You actually gain the right to vote , plus I guess it can be meaningful to RPers who want to stick to their view of the lore.

think big. in future, they will add more content to play with. no, really... they do ;-)

also, dont choose to go civ aligned if you want to do the rites and get the rewards.

I will renounce until I got the rites done ...
*here ! they got me powerleveling fame + rites again*

At least I am never bored

On the other hand I m not asking anyone to change anything but the fact that once you align your toon to a civ you shouldn't be limited in other races fame.
For instance, the race I can get best fame with is matis (75) and I never go there... Zorai is my second favorite race and I can't get fame above 0 with 'em... Basically that means you can't really have your toon being friendly to all races and politically engaged with his own (or the one he/she choose to align to)...
How is that fair ?

Re: Impact of the fame system on Rites...

If you want to be friends with all the races, you cant align yourself with anyone civ. Since there are old grieves between all the races. Even if you personally like other races, once you declare your civ, you agree with what your "leaders" think about the other races. Thats part of the civ declaration. You might not agree with all, but you gotta take the good with the bad...

What i hate more is that you cant have a civ allignment in a neutral guild
