My passion for writing stems not from material need, but from the need to vent a ‘vice' that has grown as much a part of my being as the hand that holds my pen. I write in total freedom, not for a specific purpose, which is probably why my personal wealth resides in the pleasure I get from putting pen to paper.

The Adventures of Marcel Dageot (still writing)

I have been gathering material for this book for many years. It is a for a younger public and more precisely for my son, Anthony, who is yet to learn his father's tongue and who is growing up into a lad, so I thought the time was right to put pen to paper especially as his brother Dylan will soon be trotting along behind. The story is set at the beginning of the twentieth century, and is about a young man who is reduced into a magical world and must go through all sorts of trials before making it across the garden where he may become big again...

An Apology of a Voyeur

An Apology Of A Voyeur is a novel of adult fiction which conveys the protagonist's thoughts and sensations as he experiences them, over a determining period of six days in August, in present-day Bordeaux.

Luc Lemoine, 34, married with two daughters, has been leading a double life working in the city during the week and living in the country with his family at weekends.

Despite his six-month work contract at a wine merchant's coming to an end, he is not set to let go of his city freedom and anonymity, especially as he has a number of loose ends to tie up. There is Nicole, for one, with whom he is on the verge of having an affair; then there is the nocturnal photographer he has been shadowing; and finally the intriguing young couple in the flat opposite his hotel room, whose comings and goings he has been eyeing for the past months. All this on the backdrop of a series of student murders.

It becomes evident that murder has come to be an integral part of the character's life though it is not the focal point of the book. The focus is on the character himself, his double life, his loves, his secret garden, and his outlook on humanity in the capital of Aquitaine, upon which he casts a now cynical now humoristic eye.

So Luc decides to prolong his lease of liberty by lying to his wife that his employers have asked him to work on another couple of weeks.

Pescado Frito

Pescado Frito is set in the north west of Spain and based on the true story of a young Englishman's falling in love with the pretty Galician fishing village of Cangas de Morrazo, and his quest to fit in there.

With commercial tourism rearing its ugly head and Martin having no right to interfere in local planning, he is soon made to realise that home is not just where you leave your hat. Getting by on good looks, repairing motors, drinking wine and eating pinchos is not enough, a place in society has to be worked at and doesn't come cheap. Indeed, if he has made Cangas his love, he has yet to gain the respect and approbation of her family i.e. the inhabitants.

After a summer flirt with the idyllic isle of Rodas to think things through, he returns to the mainland bubbling with a plan. Figuring a family and a job would entitle him to that precious place in Cangas society, he plans to recover his Spanish wife at present refusing to budge from England where he took her and their daughter to meet his aging though charismatic father.

To prove to his wife his determination to make a better life for her and their six year old daughter, he sets his sights on buying a car repair garage. But he must find the money quick, the present owner is soon to retire and there are offers to turn the place into an amusement arcade for tourists.

At the risk of ruining his already tarnished reputation, he accepts to work incognito for a local Mafioso repairing and souping up powerboats for drug trafficking; the pay is good and, after all, he will only be in the workshop working on motors.

But things get tricky when Martin is commanded to accompany the powerboats on an outing to pick up an important shipment off the peninsula of Morrazo on a nearby island. In the black of night, despite everyone wearing balaclavas, he is recognised from his English accent by a loquacious hired hand who turns out to be an acquaintance.

The next morning, knowing his involvement in drugs will soon be all around the village, he regrets ever getting caught up in the filthy business and playing a part in polluting the very place he loves and ruining those very families whose respect he set out to conquer…

Luke

This was the first book I wrote, and narrates the rites of passage of the main protagonist taking him on a voyage of self discovery across France and Spain till he finds a place to set down roots.                                                                                                                                                                                                          Top

Some Body

HENRI, a miserly restaurateur in his 70s, tells his life-long friend JACQUES that he is going to have a body transplant. His long serving employee MARTHE, is pleased to be offered promotion whilst he is away. She hints that HUGUETTE, his daughter, may be in love. Henri warns his staff to keep up standards in his absence. Huguette tells her father that she is in love with ALBERT, the waiter. Short Stories...

La Pianista

I wrote this short piece to be played to Chopin's Prelude n°4. The pianista in question was a lady I met in Spain while playing in a piano bar to earn a living. She taught me a few tricks of the piano playing trade in exchange for English lessons. This way to La Pianista

Ryzom stories

I thought I'd include some of the Ryzom short stories. These were published on the Ryzom website. It was amazing how, merely hours after being published, they were translated into French. It was fun reading feedback from fans on forums while having to remain incognito. I no doubt put a lot of myself into those stories and it was hugely enjoyable. Here I've included two other stories that do not appear on the Ryzom website.

The Siege of Karavia

The Company of Loria

Monsoon Sunset

When the Walls Came Tumbling Down

Mabreka

The Spirit in the Hills

The Daïsha Stanza
