Re: Escalation of the war(S)?

Maybe it could be easy to solve the "neutral" problem:

Let say their is no neutral player: only non-factionned players (NFP)....

Keep your idea like it is but do not link it to the fact of been factionned or not: - - war is declared
- a NPC is present in town and ask anybody willing to enrole
- open option to a flag which maybe diff that the faction flag (the idea of civilisation could be a good one)
- all can then participate..

This was what has been done during temple construction: leave a choice to participate to all or not to participate. Little bit like OP battle as well.

You could add some NPC armies invading as well: some Fyros NPC mixed with players going down from Knoll of Dissent to invade Yak and such, even could link it to attack of OP's and so on with universal MOTD announcement...

Or allow NFP to join one of the faction through the NPC for the period of the event only....

Bam, everybody can joina and all are happy

Re: Escalation of the war(S)?

Ep 2 was based on fame, not declared faction, and for that matter temple guards will kill anyone with non-positive faction fame for them.

the whole idea of "escalating the war" though, is questionable. Sure it gives the conflict junkies more "stuff to do" but unless GF are actually ready to progress the storyline it will be another empty meaningless facade like the Outposts turned out to be. So it will make Atys a worse place to live without offering any hope for the future.

If GF are moving the story along thats a different issue, but winding the tension higher just because someone thinks it would be fun doesnt cut it as justification

Re: Escalation of the war(S)?

Your vision of escalating the wars will remove one more option of choice for the players. But since you want a black and white, no grey allowed world. Go for it and take the RP out of MMORPG.

How about instead of **Watch your language please - Tydamus** you make a BETTER suggestion?
Or tell us how you think we can better improve it so that it suits yours and others gamestyles?
You know, that whole constructive criticism and all.....

Well since you asked, I will take the liberty of responding.........
Your original post wants the game developers to concentrate on a particular aspect of Ryzom, and this will effect all players in varying degrees.
From the PvP participant who will gain something tangible to 'chase', to the PvE player who will have his 'content promises' delayed/abandoned/changed again.
There is only a finite amount of time developers have (ie- 24hours each day). And their direction will be influenced greatly in response to the vocal part of the community....which is blinkered and segregated.

PvP Vs PvE are the real factions

Re: Escalation of the war(S)?

I was puzzled by the thread title; how is it possible to escalate what does not yet exist? Nevertheless, I see what you are driving at, LT, and suggestions for content should always be welcome. I note, however, that there happen to be more suggestions for rewards than for gameplay. And I find it odd that you first suggest patrols of NPCs for an essentially PvP form of content - are there not enough players interested in making up patrols for their faction?

I hope someday some of this will come about, but I truly hope for many other things to be focused on before then, eventually leading up to a situation where this thread might be relevant.

Re: Escalation of the war(S)?

I detect no tension between the Ks. Maiden Grove is one prime example where representatives stand hour upon hour within hailing distance of each other, yet do not so much as throw a clod of soil. I submit that they are complicit in encouraging homins to scrap amongst themselves. But whilst that might be interesting, it's off-topic, sorry . You're welcome to PM me with any arguments.

I won't make any suggestions. The goal to rebuild homanity and fight kitins and goo is lost in the deeper layers of the prime roots. One alliance will win, and thats it - game over.

The Game has become very Polarised but I see no way to return to the game we once had without a major re-think by GF.

There seems little or no place for anyone who chooses to live there homin lives in any fashion besides one side or the other anymore which is one reason why so many old faces have left or are just sitting back like myself.

If the game continues in the direction it is, "Saga" removed, then LT's idea will fit very well and I think they would add a fun element in and be workable for new players they would add a new dimension rather than just training for OP conflict more chance to train you PvP skills etc more often.

Time has come, is Ryzom just another PvP stage now? Seems like it to alot of people.

If thats true then yes these ideas fit I might play a coupla hours a week for a laugh and forget the Atys I once knew and just shoot faceless people because they happen to have a different tag, I like some PvP it can be fun but its not the direction I wanted to see.
