Your inventory is limited. So now or later you will need additionnal space.

In Ryzom, excess weight or bulk will severely penalise your character.

For this reason, you should make use of pack animals to carry heavy weapons or raw materials to reduce the load on your character.

Note: on Atys, the pack animals are trained mektoubs, hence their name "mektoub packers".

Where to buy pack animals ?

You will find a stable near the gates of every village.

Either inside or near the stable, you will find an NPC called the "stable boy".

You can buy pack animals from him in the same way as you would buy items from any other NPC merchant in the game.

Once you have bought a pack animal, the animal leaves the stable and its icon then appears in your inventory.

The keyboard shortcut Ctrl+P opens the "Animals" window where you can see your pack animal. If you possess several pack animals or a mount, they will all be listed here. Each has the following characteristics:

• Name
• Life points (red)
• Hungry (white)
• Load and bulk values (beige)
• Its inventory : the chest.

How to guide a pack animal ?

There are several commands you can use to guide your pack animal. You can access these commands in two ways:

• Select the mektoub, then right-click to display the context menu where you will find the commands.

• From the "animals" window, right-clicking on the pack animals window displays the commands.

The following commands are available:

• follow: the pack animal follows your character

• stop: the pack animal stops

• free: you give your pack animal its freedom, but note that you then lose it for good

• enter stable: the pack animal returns to the stable from where you can make use of it again as it is not lost for good. An animal in the stable is safe.

• leave stable: the pack animal leaves the stable.

How to use the pack animal inventory ?

Each of your pack animals possesses its own inventory.

You can open its inventory from the "animals" window by clicking on the chest button.

You can move items from your inventory to the mektoub's by dragging and dropping or by right-clicking on the icon of the item which opens the "move item to" option. Note that you need to be close enough to the animal in order to carry out this command.

When you carry out trades with other players or with NPC merchants, your window will display a button for each mektoub that you have.

Caution: your pack animals can be attacked by creatures or hostile NPCs. Be aware also that their ability to withstand combat is very limited.

It is not possible to teleport with your pack animals. When you teleport, your animals are left behind, defenceless.

Mounts:

Atys is a vast planet where travelling on foot can be slow and where teleportation is a costly activity. Buying a mount allows you to travel quickly at minimal cost.

Note: the mounts used by all four homin races are trained mektoubs.

Where to buy the mounts ?

You can buy mounts from the stable boys.

How to control a mount ?

The mounts use the same commands as the pack animals.

In addition, you can ride them of course. To do this, choose the mount option from the context menu by right-clicking on the mount.

To get down from your mount, select the dismount option from the context menu.

When you are on your mount, the directional commands remain the same.

How to use the mount inventory ?

Your mount has an inventory that works in the same way as with your pack animals, but with a reduced capacity.

Caution: when you are on your mount, all damage is aimed at you. You cannot however carry out attacks when on your mount, as it is not a beast of war! Therefore, you will need to either take flight or simply dismount and face the danger.
