Good news today to keep you busy during these rainy days: we've just added onto the ATS (Advanced Test Server) elements that we plan to patch live soon. Don't miss this occasion to help us improve them!

What's on the ATS

  • Important feature concerning melee users: your consumption of Stamina will depend on the weight of your weapon.
    It is important for us to get your feedback on this point as this will most likely change your fighting habits. The goal of this change is to make the melee fights more interesting and to give a meaning to the "weight" statistic of weapons. Crafters are welcome to try new recipes to provide different kind of weapons and help testing combat. [ Leave feedback on Weight/Stamina ]

  • You will find the ergonomic improvements listed here.
  • You will be able to choose to have your camera recenter automatically or not.
  • The rule will change when using healing actions in PvP; you shouldn't be kicked out of team anymore. Read more here.
  • You sap crystals will stack.
  • You may receive one or two new titles related to your allegiances.
  • You will notice female homins have female titles.
  • Some titles will be changed according to your feedback on the document published here.
  • RoS: Chiang the Strong will be less chatty and will only welcome you. A female Zoraï will be the NPC giving directions inside the Rangers camp and information about Homins and Factions. Thanks to her, refugees won't be lost anymore.
  • A deactivable pop-up will appear when you "die" to explain how it works. [ Leave feedback on these points ]

Note: in this ATS version only the French version is complete; if you play in English or German, you will see most of the new texts in French.

How to go to the ATS

The ATS is open to all our Ryzom subscribers. You will find there a save of your characters from April 2007. Make a copy of your entire "Ryzom" folder, rename it "Ryzom ATS" to avoid any confusion and replace the "client.cfg" file of your "Ryzom ATS" folder with this one.

To go to the ATS, simply double-click on the file "client_ryzom_rd.exe" in your Ryzom ATS folder and log in with your usual login.
Note: you will have to create a new character on the ATS if you started playing Ryzom after April.

We've opened the ATS (Advanced Test Server) today in order to test on a larger scale the features of the upcoming patch.

Main changes

  • A brotherhood strongly loving dappers installed wheels of fortune in the four capital cities. [ Leave feedback ]
  • The modified craft system presented here is in place. [ Leave feedback ]
  • We added a skull icon that appears when you have death penalty.
  • A couple of changes on the Ruins of Silan: Yubos are easier to kill than before. A new refugee also starts with 200 points in his energy bars instead of 100 and has a higher regen rate. Note that this change affects every Homins. It should be almost hard to die.
  • Outposts: When challenging an OP, you now need to have at least one guild member of roughly the level of the OP online (the guild member needs to be at least 50 levels lower than the quality of the op for highest skill the guild member has). I.E. To attack a lvl 100 the member needs to be at least lvl 50.
    This same member also has to be part of the guild since a certain time, which is 5 days for a level 50 OP, 10 days for a level 100, and so on until 25 days to declare on a level 250 OP.
  • Revamp of the error login messages. [ Go to global feedback thread ]
Note: We haven't translated all the new texts yet so you may encounter French words here and there. We should patch a translated version within the week.

How to go to the ATS

The ATS is open to all our Ryzom subscribers. You will find there a save of your characters from last week. Make a copy of your entire "Ryzom" folder, rename it "Ryzom ATS" to avoid any confusion and replace the client.cfg file of your "Ryzom ATS" folder with this one.

You will find on the ATS three of the four shards: Aniro, Arispostle and Leanon. If you are from Cho, you will have to make a new character on one of these shards as we can't copy your characters saves on Arispotle.

Friday,01 December , 2006 at 13:00 UTC

We've added on the ATS (Advanced Test Servers) several gameplay, interface and Ring elements we've been working on lately. Today the ATS has been opened to all of you who have access to the mainland (if you are on a Free Trial, you won't have access to it).

Note: as only the Arispotle shard is full on the ATS, if you had characters bound to the Leanon or Aniro ATS we've relocated them so that you can play on Arispotle. If a character had the same name as a char from Arispotle, it hasn't been copied.
More recent characters and Cho characters don't exist on the ATS as we're using characters saves from a few months ago, so  you may need to create a new character on the ATS. Be sure to select the shard "Arispotle".

Here's the main content of the patch:

  • The Guild window should display the online status of the guild members.
  • The Contact list should display properly the online status of your friends.
  • A few new haircuts have been added for each race.
  • The 1 Hand weapons should hit at their wished speed.
  • You can customise your emotes, as explained here.
  • The Factions channels are always available to faction aligned homins. You don't have to be PvP tagged anymore to have access to these channels.
  • You can receive tells when you are in the AFK state.
  • NPC Bosses: they are back!

Please post your feedback here for the NPC bosses and here for the other points.

  • Ring: the objects and NPCs' number limitation are increased. In your Ring Scenario, you should be able to place 300 objects (components and bot objects) and 200 NPCs.
  • Ring Editor: you can now draw an array of walls. You simply have to tick the "Draw Array" option in the "Palette" and trace a line of objects.
  • Ring Scenario Scoring: you can vote for a scenario. To do so, open the "Scenario Scoring" window (shift+J when you are playing in the Ring Scenario) and fill the different fields. The scenario score will be displayed in the Loading Scenario windows (when you create a Ring Animation) and in the scenario's description tooltip on the Ring Terminal.

Post your feedback here about the changes related to the Ring.

How to play on the ATS:

1. Be sure that your Ryzom live client is patched to the latest version (verify this by simply logging into the game)
2. Copy this live folder into another one (example: \Ryzom ATS)
3. We will now work only in this new folder.
4. Open your client.cfg and change the lines:

Application = { "ryzom_live", "./client_ryzom_rd.exe", "./" };
StartupHost = "213.208.119.220:40916";

into (or add these 2 lines if the ones above don't exist):

Application = { "ryzom_test", "./client_ryzom_rd.exe", "./" };
StartupHost = "rsring03.juk.shards.nevrax.com:40916";

5. Launch the client_ryzom_rd.exe and log with your usual login and password.
6. You are now ready to play on the ATS. Have fun!

If you encounter any trouble to log into the ATS, please contact your favourite CSRs on the Klients.

Good news for those who were waiting for it: the NPE has been patched on the ATS 2 (opened yesterday). All the ATS testers are welcome to log in and test it! :)
Reminder: the NPE - New Player Experience - is going to replace the current first experience of players. The four separated "newbie islands" are going to disappear to be replaced by a unique and larger island. Moreover, new players should be able to find more help through new designed missions that will guide their first steps on Atys.

Wednesday,31 May , 2006 at 18:00 UTC

We've opened today a new test server for the ATS testers (ATS 2 "Pre-Live"), presenting how the live servers would behave once the unification of the shards is done. At this moment, the ATS 1 (the usual ATS) can't be used as it serves the Ring Alpha.

As on the ATS 1, only the ATS testers have access to it, principally to test the general behaviour of the game with the new architecture. We copied a save of the live servers characters from May the 16th so when someone logs on the Pre-Live, he could use his main character as in live conditions.

As always, have fun!

Maybe some of you are wondering what's happening on the ATS since it's been closed back in January. As announced in this news, we closed it to merge the Ring code with it. Here are some information to let you know what's going on.

[ Discuss it! ]

This code includes a change of both hardware and software architecture: we want to connect the 3 shards so that anyone playing on any of the 3 shards could meet in a same Ring scenario. This will also allow one to choose on which shard to play directly when creating a new character.

This is a major technical change, which requires a lot of testing to ensure Ryzom is behaving correctly with this new architecture. And so far, it does work well. :) In parallel, lots of tests of the Ring are also running to prepare the Beta, and the ATS is patched progressively with new elements to be tested. Tests are running smoothly, and a final version is approaching.

The Ring Alpha is now running on the ATS since a few weeks. Currently, only Alpha testers, devs and some CSRs have access to the Ring-flavoured ATS. It will be opened later to every Ryzom subscribers for the Ring Beta (Q2 2006). We will post news to announce the opening when the time comes.

Just a last warning for the curious: don't try to log in there and patch now; you may damage some config files and executables, meaning you won't be able to log in nor patch when the ATS officially opens.

We will close the Advanced Test Server to everyone for at least one week, starting from tomorrow Thursday 19 (around 11am, GMT+1). During this time, we will merge the Ring code with the ATS (and only the code; you will not be able to play the Ring on the ATS for now), check this is working properly, and then open the ATS to all of you again, like we did with the Outposts testing before.

We just opened ATS to all our active players today, to be able to test the Outposts. Logging into the ATS requires some specific handlings though. Indeed you cannot use the same client as the one you use to log into the live server. Please read carefully the instructions below to create your ATS special client, and what to do once logged into the ATS. Be careful to not delete your regular client!

1. Make a copy of your Ryzom folder. Rename that folder to ATS in order to not mix the two versions.
2. Download this file: convert_client_for_ryzom_ATS.zip.
3. Open the 'convert_client_for_ryzom_ATS' zip file and extract into the new ATS folder, where there is 'client_ryzom_rd.exe' (main directory of the newly created ATS folder).
4. Double click on the extracted file 'convert_client_for_ryzom_ATS.bat', and do what the new popping window asks.
5. [Optional] Right click on 'client_ryzom_rd.exe' (in the ATS folder) and create desktop shortcut.
6. Double click on 'client_ryzom_rd.exe' (in the ATS folder) and patch. Then you're done!

Now, a few explanations about the ATS and what to do once there. This is a test server; that means you will encounter many bugs, crashes, lack of polishing, pitfalls, etc.! The purpose of this server is to test features before they reach the live servers. So here, we encourage you to be vigilant when playing with Outposts, to report any encountered bug or suggestion while testing.
You have several ways to report them:
In game Customer Support tool: when you find a bug or have suggestions regarding Outposts only, you can send a ticket in the "suggestion" category. However, unlike live server tickets, you may not receive a response; these tickets are considered as feedbacks and treated the same way as those from the feedback thread (see below).
Feedback thread: you can post here the bugs you found. The ATS leader* of each community will read it and gather your comments. Information posted here should stay clear to facilitate their work.
Discussion thread: here you can discuss about your impressions or other topics related to the Outposts, with other players. This thread is here to keep the feedback one clear: as soon as you have some comments which, you think, don't fit the feedback section purpose, please post here. :)
*The ATS leaders, who will gather and construct reports from you, are:
- Game Master Yumidan for the German Community;
- Senior Guide Enoril for the French Community;
- Senior Guides Yvrelle and Arimuun for the English Community.

If you have any doubt when creating your ATS client, don't hesitate to ask for help to the Customer Support team on the klient.

Happy testing! :D

[ Release notes ]

Welcome on the ATS. The whole ATS team is happy to have you on board for Out Posts. We hope that you will enjoy it, have fun and make sure you give your feedback on the appropriate threads on Ryzom forums.
Below is some information that you need to know in order for it to be smooth for you and enjoyable.

When you create a new character, he will have a specific level and amount of daps (more info below) in order for you to enjoy and benefit from the OP at its max. Keep in mind that OP gameplay is mainly oriented for experimented adventurers at this stage.

You then need to either create a new guild or join an existing guild. Buy a guild hall or make your guild leader to do so. Those 2 pre requisites (Guild and Guild hall) are necessary to initiate an attack on an Out Post. More over, you need to have daps in your guild inventory in order to initiate your attacks, so if your guild inventory has no daps in it you will not be able to mount an attack.

Some Out Posts are in ruins, don't waste time trying to acquire them, just move along, we'll see what happens with those later ;) . You need to look for Out Posts with a flag. Flag = acquirable Out Post.

Only guild leaders or high officers can initiate an attack on an Out Post by clicking on the flag. This action opens a window in which you can manage attacks on an Out Post. WARNING: if an Out Post is already engaged with another guild, you cannot declare any attack.

A guild owning an Out Post will gain various rewards. However, in order to not spoil it all, you do not have the associated raw material. The raw materials that you dig with your driller are generic. This allows us to test the mechanism without spoiling you too much ;)

Characters:

Anyone who creates a new character on his ATS account will have the following:
- lvl 150 in fight, magic, craft, harvest;
- 28400 sp to spend in each of them;
- 1 000 000 daps.

OP timers:

The timer for the various cycles of OP are not the same as you will get on live servers. They all have been shortened in order for you to be able to play more and not have to wait for the next rounds too long. So if it might seems a bit too fast for you, don't be alarmed this is for test purposes. It is for you to be able to play lots of cycles.

Here are the various timers that you need to know and the known side effects:
- Declaration of war: 5 mins
- Pause: 5 mins
- Combat: 1 hour
- Pause: 10 mins
- Defense: 1 hour
- Pause: 5 mins

Time attack indicated in your interface will be false. Based on the timers indicated above, combat would start 5 mins after the war declaration and defense 10 mins after the end of attack round (well, if there is a defense cycle of course ^^). However, the round timer is displaying the right times.

Known bugs:

We know that there are bugs still live on this version, well this is the ATS !

Here is a list of know bugs:
- Some texts are lacking or showing 'NotExist'.
- Some translations are lacking.
- In certain circumstances, when you activate the PvP faction you can encounter a wrong display of colours, making it hard to differentiate PvP faction and PvP Out Post.

OP is heavily linked to the new Fame System however for this version we have been focusing on OP cycles and mechanisms. Here are some bugs you could encounter when creating a new characters with this new fame system:
- Guild fame is not functional.
- Tribes fame is not functional.
- Some display bugs with allegiances.
- Some KOS guards are lacking.
- Some translations/texts are lacking.

Some news about the Outposts: in order to fix and tune them, we will patch the ATS this week. This first wave of changes is based on some of the testers comments and feedback. As we want to have the oppoturnity to test these changes, the opening of the ATS to Ryzom subscribers is postponed to next week (we'll give you additional details closer to the opening date).

This week ATS patch should mainly fix:

  • Initial fame (it shouldn't be inverted when you create a new character anymore);
  • Neutrality (neutrals shouldn't be able to heal players in outpost PvP);
  • Outposts squads (making them all appear correctly);
  • Outposts PvP zones (making them all active);
  • Space bar (it should only target players and not buildings);
  • Mektoub (working on invisibility bug, to be patched probably next week);
  • Squads power (decreasing it, especially the range fighters one);
  • Texts (fixing and adding some messages).

For your information, the testing conditions differ from the live conditions on these points:

  • Timers are shorter than the normal duration, to allow more battle rounds and thus more feedback. However, there is a side effect on the interfaces displaying the defence/attack dates: the information can be wrong.
  • Rewards aren't activated, to avoid spoiling a fun part of the Outposts before they reach the live servers.

The system upgrade of the Advanced Test Server, mentioned two days ago, went perfectly well!

We have thus been able to reopen it today, patched with the rebalancing changes for PvP detailed in the previous news. We are starting to gather the feedback from ATS testers on the changes - if you want to join the party, be sure to fill out this form.

We have just closed the Advanced Test Server (ATS) to perform a technical system upgrade (for the techies, we upgrade to gcc 3.4). We want to be sure it is not affecting the server and the Ryzom code, so it will remain closed a few days.

The next step will be to patch the rebalancing changes on the ATS. If you want to try these changes before they reach the live servers, be sure to fill the ATS application. We'll recruit additional testers in the meantime.

A quick note to let you know that the ATS server has been patched today with all the elements contained in the Now In Test section of the website. Good bug squashing, ATS testers! :)

Tuesday,07 June , 2005 at 17:39 UTC

Just a quick note to let you know that we have reopened the Advanced Test Server to ATS testers. As mentioned three weeks ago, we have deactivated the outposts on the ATS (currently, the ATS is used to test a new EAX sound DLL) to let us have the time to code some changes, now that our first series of tests are over.

I will let you know when we will reactivate the outposts feature; ATS testers will then have plenty of time to play it -err, 'test it' :)- and provide us with feedback.

In the meantime, if you want to join the ATS test team, the ATS application form is for you ! :-)
